I concede that maybe I dont know wtf im talking about but I like the Roush pick. A 9.94 RAS at 6'6 265 and apparently a good blocker. Kmet was a 8.94. I bet Johnson is ecstatic to have this guy. Kmet should be traded. Roush and Loveland are going to terrorize defenses. Booking it.

The defensive line is awful and all these RAS athletes didn’t accomplish jack horsefeathers until Caleb started pulling rabbits out of hats in the second half of last year.

im sure Roush will be put to use by Ben and Caleb but the draft is about making the team better and the team needs defensive linemen desperately.

Even though tight end was as much of a priority as a punter there’s some upside there in 13 personnel and or they trade Kmet to shed cap. Smith was over-drafted by 3 rounds and is just a wasted cute pick.

Do you restructure someone's contract and then trade him?

It makes as much sense as these picks.

I questioned many of the picks last year and that turned out to be a great draft, so I'm keeping my mouth shut on this year's draft.

To a degree, although Loveland and Burden you could still make sense of as BPA.

Can anyone give a glass half full perspective on whatever the horsefeathers just happened?

Bears plan to put up 40 points a game while giving up 39

After sleeping on it, I like first 3 picks overall. Good long-term picks as well as making immediate impacts in 2026. Good players and fit for this team. Thomas I just don't understand that high when you could have picked him today.

Screw it, just use all your remaining picks on the DL and hope you get a lotto ticket.

Hopefully 6 coming on a Thomas kick return touchdown thanks to a key block by Roush.

My glass half full is that I like the Thieneman pick because of his elite speed / versatility and he’s coming from a really good football program.  I can accept the Logan Jones pick.  It’s unfortunate we needed to suddenly figure out center, but you do need to figure out center.  He’s coming from a proven OL factory in Iowa, and rated highly there.  I view that as the right fallback pick.

Poles lets himself get beat in the draft.  Over and over.  He should have seen that Jacas was falling to him and used the fact that he still had pick #60 to work with.  Jump up and get your guy if he’s falling into your lap.

We all wanted Jacas but are we even sure Poles wanted him?

We aren’t.  Maybe the Bears are thinking they have enough invested in EDGE already.  It’s not working out but the solution is to strengthen the rest of the team right now, not spend more draft capital at that position.

Also, maybe this is what it looks like when you’ve found your franchise QB and the priority is to feed the offense to maximize his impact.  We’ve never really been in this position before.

And who were they going to draft at 57?  All of the potentially impact EDGE's were literally gone now, one could argue Poles should have moved up.  He probably tried, we don't know.  Given this you might as well take a player who has the potential to be impactful regardless of position.  I believe that's what the Bears did.

My question is whether they just weren’t excited enough to trade up for any available lineman or Allen wants a  lineman with a certain build that’s difficult to find and won’t compromise. Whoever they would’ve taken would’ve likely been a rotational piece anyways but it’s worth asking.

Looking at the glass half full perspective...

Thieneman instantly makes this defense better and provides the sort of playmaker the Bears will need in the secondary, particularly in a pass-heavy division, and ostensibly gives them a locker room leader on defense.  He fell into their laps, but he was a fantastic pick.

Jones addresses a need, provides interior depth, and might be the starter coming out of training camp if he truly has the goods. I preferred Hecht, but I like the pick.

Roush makes sense for how Johnson likes running his offense with 2 and 3 TE sets. He provides depth at the position and should be versatile enough to benefit special teams.

Thomas is...fast and a kick returner, so he should be good at that? I really hope I'm dead wrong when I think "Velus Jones" any time I see this pick?

That's exactly where I'm at with each pick. I do think Jones becomes the Game 1 starter. They got "their guy" that helps their zone running scheme. Bradbury is decent but he was a move they had to make at the time. Leader and depth at the position. Amazing how much the Dalman retirement affected their offseason.

Grab a DT and Edge today please. Dennis-Sutton seems like a DA guy.
