Crazy to think that 16 of the Bears last 17 games were either Bears wins or Bears losses that happened on the last play of the game. What a season.

The Dallas, Cleveland, Philly, Saints and Baltimore games weren’t won or lost on the last play.

Lots of highs and lows in that game. It was a lot of fun. Wished for a better outcome, but so happy with such a fun season and positivity about the QB situation going forward. Caleb is the guy and he will continue developing and improving.

Designed running plays for Caleb is not in Ben's regular playbook. He's trying to protect his franchise. Jared Stidham is starting for Denver Sunday because of a designed QB running play. More and more QB's are missing games due to injury.

A sneak, a naked bootleg  or taking off in a wide open field with a slide is fine, but I just don't think you'll see many plays designed to move the ball down the field with Caleb's legs.

There was one really genius play by Payton/Nix Saturday that I really liked and felt the Bears could have tried, and that was the 4th and 1 shotgun, audible to a regular snap at Center before the defense could adjust and then sneak it right up the middle. Nix raced up to the Center and the snap happened almost instantaneously and he plowed forward. That play went for 5 yards. Buffalo was all spread out on defense because of the shotgun formation. Just didn't like calling basically the same running play over and over against a defense that was scheming to stop that exact run.

The Rams weakness was their defensive backs and the Bears kept trying to beat the DLine instead. The 4th and 1 where they passed it was a TD to DJ Moore. So, I was not digging the short and run decisions time and again.

He said the Bears either won or it came down to the last play. They won against Dallas, Cleveland, Philly, and the Saints. Baltimore is the only one that doesn’t quality in his scenerio. So they are the 1 of 17.

Whoops. That clarifies it.

Missing Loveland in overtime really hurt.

What was the injury?

I was too demoralized to google it. Still am.

OK, I just did. Concussion. Didn't hear anyone really talking about it postgame.

That’s not what I said. I was trying to say that they either won the game outright, or they lost it on the final play

edit: whoops someone already clarified for me lol. Carry on

I'll echo hmmmm.....but mostly because he may well have been told get the hell out of there just because nobody wanted him to have to answer all those questions.  Especially if he was concussed.  Then it gets even worse, with the guy possibly not really with it and then the whole thing blows up even more.

I'm making some BIG guesses on that though.  We may never find out exactly what happened there.  Did he give up on a route because that's something he has done in the past?  Was he concussed and confused?  Did he run the wrong route (i.e. honest miscommunication)?

Man it's frustrating as hell.  That throw was our ticket to the NFCCG.

I think he ran the wrong route and didn’t think he had a chance at catching the ball or knocking it down and just gave up

I’m hoping the miscommunication all year long is simply learning a complicated offense. It’s been a problem all year no matter who’s at fault.

I am seeing lots of people now saying the Bears can’t add in the offseason because of their cap position and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. They have no huge contracts, most of their draft picks and a ton of guys who would be perfect for restructuring. If anything I’d say they are in a great position to improve and can probably get $40-50m freed to improve the roster.

One thing I'm very confident about is that another year in Ben's system with virtually the exact same offensive personnel will lead to a much more efficient, consistent offense. The rest of the league should be on notice.

That seems wildly optimistic. I was thinking more like 20.

I saw this on twitter and I have no idea how dependable it is.

I'll say: I want Thuney and possibly Kmet but everyone else is expendable.

Exactly, there are so many ways to clear up money. It’s SOP for NFL teams these days. When you have no giant contracts (Sweat at $25m is the most, I believe only 2 contacts over $17m) and your QB and other key pieces are still on rookie deals you can really go out there and have an impactful offseason and continue to build. Just have to be smart and not do what the Commanders did last offseason.
