The "Bear weather" benefitted the Rams.  I don't want to hear that crap ever again.  Everyone plays in the same weather in a game like that.

I think part of the reason the Rams offense was stifled was because of the weather. Stafford wasn’t himself.

The Bears had a first down at midfield only needing a FG to get into the NFC Championship Game. Just can’t let those opportunities pass you by.

Yes.  When you get to a game at this level any loss hurts more.  But when you are sitting right at the edge of victory and self-destruct it hurts even worse.

I'm not so sure about that. Stafford was under 50% completion percentage and that had a lot to do with the Bears D but not completely, he was off quite a bit on some open guys.

I think overall though there wasn't a clear beneficiary to the weather. Our running game wasn't up to the task of exerting its will on the Rams D-Line, so it didn't really help us especially. And it didn't seem to affect the kicking game meaningfully.

I guess that depends on whether or not you blame the cold in Odunze missing that TD catch. He tried to catch it in his body

They had the game in their grasp. Just so aggravating. Even our season of enchantment ends with an overtime interception and self inflicted wounds in the divisional round. We wouldn’t have been kicked in the nuts without being on the winning end of these games for what it’s worth.

I can accept that for sure.  My comment was a reaction to what I saw as a lot of commentary that the Bears were going to have a large advantage over the Rams and it didn't really happen that way.  There were too many drops by Bears receivers and the Rams didn't have drops.  Our line wasn't able to impose its will on the Rams in the run game even in the latter part of the game when I'd expect "Bear weather" to help if it was really a factor.

I was impressed by the pressure we were getting on Stafford.  And seeing our DBs play in coverage the way they did made me wonder how the defense would have been if we were healthy all year.

I think the Bears definitely had an assist from the weather. Bears out gained them in total yards and our soft defense held the top scoring offense in the NFL to 17 points in regulation. Stafford looked miserable.

I mean, the game winning touchdown to DJ in the final packers/bears regular season game was supposedly a play they installed that week. They aren't shy about using new plays, and quite frankly they shouldn't be. It's what keeps the d from sitting on routes and the o being too predictable.

This loss is worse than the double doink. 3rd worst loss after the SB and the NFCCG because of our QB situation. Its been a rough week.

Brother, I can't tell you how to feel but the future is brighter right now for the Bears than its been since early 2006, post-Panthers loss. It sucks they lost, it sucks they lost a game they easily could have won and had a real, if improbable, path to a Super Bowl. But we have extremely good reason to expect next years team to be even better, and to have prolonged success under Ben and Caleb.

Hell, if Ben Johnson is successful, we're gonna lose a lot in the playoffs. Only 1 team gets to hold the trophy at the end. You get as many bites at the apple as you can, and you hope you can snatch a couple. It is what it is. Gear yourself up for it.

What is our qb situation? Are you saying Caleb is a bust?

Yeah, I'm not understanding his post at all. I'm already super tired of the finger pointing for a team that preseason had next to no predictions of playing post season football. It's Ben Johnson's rookie year as a HC. It's Caleb's first year playing with an NFL caliber coaching staff. Dude is acting like the window just closed. It hasn't even been fully opened yet.

Should the Bears probably won vs the Rams? Yes. Of course.  They made mistakes,  the Rams didn't make much. But this was not a horrible loss or a huge disappointment.  Nothing is guaranteed next year or the years to come but the future is bright and I think we will be having a parade or two in the years to come

It’d be a major failure if this is our best shot at a superbowl with a rookie head coach and Caleb. Talk to me in 5 years though.

If this season was a flash in the pan then there’s zero chance they beat the Seahawks next week. Flash in the pan teams don’t win superbowls.

They weren't a flash in the pan. I think they would have given Seattle a game and maybe even win outright.

They’ll have more opportunities in the future then. If Caleb develops into a top 7 quarterback your contention window will be open every year. Top 5 and you’re always a superbowl contender unless you’re Joe Burrow.

pretty sure he means the loss because Cutler went out and we were left with Caleb Hanie to try and beat the Packers

Makes sense. So the double doink hurt less because Mitch sucked and wouldn’t have taken us far?
