If Tucker is really looking at a three year deal scenario with  Mets, wouldn't he surely prefer playing in Chicago with old friend Alex Bregman?

I think there's probably some truth to that the Cubs just aren't interested in bringing Tucker back for whatever reason.

This is probably why:

Managers are such little whiny horsefeathers.  You always see this "how can we ever be expected to survive with only 7 relievers?" stuff and then guy #8 averages like a week between outings and never ever enters a game in grand slam range.  It's the dril candles tweet I swear.

That said this would be a good way to utilize the current SP depth without taking the risk of shipping anyone off permanently.

I actually love a 6 man rotation for the Cubs this year. Steele is coming off injury, Horton is coming of the most innings he has ever thrown, Boyd is coming off the most innings he has ever thrown, Taillon is coming off injuries, Shota is coming off injuries and Cabrera is coming off injuries. Limit these guys where you can and keep them fresh for the final push and the playoffs.

It's a 3/$150m offer. No idea about opts and deferred money.

This is my feeling exactly. Keeps everyone fresh and eases Steele back into it. In the second half when everyone looked gassed last year, this feels like a no brainer.

Would the Cubs pay him 40-50 mil per?

Yea if there any season to do it, this would be it for the Cubs and it doesn't have to start until Steele returns in late May or June.

Cardinals roster is almost all homegrown now

And it's terrible.

Dean seems like minor league depth . 3 options left . That could point to Alcantara starting g as the 4th OF.  But we will see . I believe the 40 man would be at 39 once Bregman gets added

29 year old speedy outfielder. Hopefully that is the last Cubs-Giants transaction of the offseason.

That could of been the "talk" between them that was taken as them asking about Nico 😂

At least this will leave Alcantara down to get a little more time getting everyday AB in Iowa and be ready if called up later in season if needed.

Dean likely a guy who will get most of his PT as a defensive replacement for Suzuki late in games and used as a PR or the ghost runner when needed.

That's a thought, but Dean has 3 options left and I'm not sure he makes for a great 4th OFer. If we don't sign anyone of note, and he survives the rest of the winter on the roster, I'm sure he'll get every chance in ST to win a bench spot.

Three of the four are in the Yankees' top 30 prospects on Pipeline but none top 10. One of the guys the Marlins got, Dillon Lewis, had a 20-20 season in the minors and they were apparently enamored with him and wanted him in Edward Cabrera trade talks but the Yankees didn't want to add the significant pieces necessary to that deal. So they worked it out later for Weathers.

Yankees' rotation when everyone is healthy is gonna be like 9 deep. They have Paul Blackburn and Ryan Yarbrough on MLB deals too.

Weathers has potential to be pretty damn good if you can ever get a full season out of him.
