  • Compensation: If Tucker declines it and signs a multi-year deal elsewhere, the Cubs would receive a compensatory draft pick after the second round (a CB pick) in the 2026 draft.

Correct the Cubs don't receive a competitive balance pick but they will likely be receiving  a compensatory pick.

The point is the low market teams do get better compensation when losing a FA, plus the other things I mentioned. Again, not suggesting their reward makes up for their limited budget.

Do we hold Aroldis Chapman to the same standard if it comes to him being invited and accepted?

Probably should. They both abused women....

It took Ricketts a day and forever to bring Sosa back, let just hope they've been aware of what Russell been doing to better himself as a human.

Glancing at his Instagram just now, he has current photos of himself with wife and their 2 kids.

Is that the same woman he abused before or a new wife? Just curious I guess.

According to Buster Olney , the Yankees are now under the assumption that Bellinger is signing elsewhere .

They are now engaged with both Bichette and Tucker

No, He was seeing her same time he was married and actually had a baby girl with girlfriend 3 months after his son was born to wife.

Olney filed a story earlier this evening and basically said Yanks are offering him 5/150 and he and Boras want more. I think any team is crazy to offer him more than that, namely due to his injury history. I like Belli....but not that much.

Could very well just be negotiating through the media, but if the Yankees are actually moving on from Bellinger, I have a hard time believing he's getting 5/150 (if that offer is true) from a team that doesn't play in Yankee Stadium.

Exactly what injury issue does Belli have. He has had more than 550 PA the last 4 years? I mean I might not want to pay him $30M a year but I am not really worried about his injury history.

Right. Injuries in 2020 and 2021, but fine since

Bellinger missed a month on the IL in both of his Cubs seasons

I know. But he is hardly an injury risk. 550 or more PA 4 years in a row is pretty good.

Your facts have NO place on this board. Derwood and RCal are bosom buddies....lol. Both wrong again and won't admit it. Hilarious.

Accumulating PA by hitting high in the order and not being pinch hit/platooned is not going to lead to the truest signal.  I don't think Bellinger's body is on the brink of falling apart, but he's missed about 25 days to the IL per year since the pandemic season with several different injuries.  I don't think saying 'he got a bunch of PA so no risk there' is accurate, plus he's entering his 30s now where the body is at increased risk of breaking down.

He isn’t any more an injury risk than 95% of the players in MLB. I just don’t think someone dings him for being this guy who isn’t likely to be injured, any more than anyone else.

I don’t even know derwood. But what I do know you tend to make statements of opinion as if they are facts. And your opinions are not based on facts.

He's fractured 3 different bones in 5 seasons, it gets intertwined with his inconsistency when healthy but he's not someone who would have a track record of reliability or availability.

Again, at the end of the season Bellinger has averaged almost 600 PA a year the last 4 years. I wouldn’t use “injury risk” as aa description for him. What percent of guys have come to the plate 2300 times in 4 years? My guess is not many.

Yes.

And Starlin Castro as well.  I have no issue with holding any of these guys to account if they abused women. and all have alleged to have - Russell admitted to it and publicly apologized - not sure if Chapman or Castro ever  did?  My perception is that Russell seems to get more blowback about it that the other two....maybe i'm reading that incorrectly, just my perception.   But again - I'm not saying that we should not question the invite for Russell - he said he would own it and this is part of owning that.  I'm frankly surprised he would come.

Most of us were upset when they traded for him

I would say "most" might be debatable.  I still hear many today lauding the trade as an example of the things the Cub front office used to do but does not any more.   But I do remember personally feeling a bit uneasy about it after hearing what he did or was alleged to have done.

Looks like the deferrals put them right at the tax line.  Was hoping they already pushed past it and no looking back. Still a lot of depth options available better than Scott Kingery talent wise.
