DJ’s dead cap number is bad next year at $35 million. They aren’t going to cut him, but they’d have to trade for another big dead cap player and I’d be surprised if that player is as good as DJ. I think that number goes down after June or July, but I still don’t see the Bears dumping him or moving him.

Well yeah, I didn't say anything about cutting him. My point is, people are saying get rid of him because Burden, Loveland and Rome are the primary targets. People are saying get rid of him because he didn't prevent the INT last week. It has to make more sense than that to get rid of DJ, it has to make dollars. You either trade him for a player at another position of greater need or you trade him and get cap relief to use on a position of greater need.

Also, he CAN be traded before June 1 and it would save the Bears 16.5M in cap space with 12M dead cap.

Just finished rewatching the game. That delay of game on GB was the difference in making or missing that field goal, which puts GB at 30 and only needing a field goal to win the game on that final drive.

There was also the missed extra point that could have potentially created a tie at the end.

Both of those assume the K wasn’t too traumatized to miss again at the end of the game.

McManus simply not knowing how to play the wind, kick in Soldier Field was very helpful.  I'll give Santos credit, he may have a noodle leg but, he knows how play Soldier Field giving the Bears a big advantage.

Lot of low key situations that helped the Bears late. The Packers missed FG drive late, Doubs going out of bounds after burning Gordon. He could have slid and used a bunch more time. They also went from 1st and 10 at the Bears 21 to 4th and 15 at the Bears 26 before the missed FG and only used 9 seconds of time before the missed FG because they threw 2 incompletions. A single run play would have caused the Bears to either use their last timeout or put much more pressure on them from a time constraint. Granted, the Packers ended up needing the time themselves, but maybe they don't if they use the time much better on the missed FG drive.

Didn't know about the prognosis on that Trapilo injury.  That changes the LT situation for sure.

Maybe he did die.

I thought Green Bay really blew it with the clock management. If Doubs just falls down on the catch, the clock becomes a huge factor the rest of the way.

I'm going back and forth on who I want to win the Eagles-Niners game.  Right now I'm leaning towards wanting the Niners to win just so we play a team we haven't played already this year.

Facing the Eagles again would be cool because 1. We’ve shown we can beat them and 2. That would be another opportunity to exorcise some more playoff demons

I'm leaning Eagles because I think the Rams can beat the Seahawks and give the Bears a home game for the NFC championship.

If the Eagles win we play them since they're the highest seed, if the 49ers win they will play the Seahawks since they're a lower seed than the Rams, and the Rams (who we haven't played) will come to Chicago

Edit, typo.

Kind of included in the 1st and 10 to 4th and 15 but the Packers also burned one of their TOs during that set of downs and then got the Delay of Game penalty coming out of the timeout which is just overwhelmingly stupid.

We won’t play the 49ers no matter what.

Ah, that wasn't clear in the way he phrased it.

I'm just gonna let the chips fall where they land. There are advantages and disadvantages to both

Eagles:

-We've beaten them this year in Philly and know we can beat them

-Their offense has taken a step back this year and seems like a much easier matchup for our defense

-Bears would have the advantage of an extra day of rest

-Disadvantage: Great defense and we'll probably have to change the gameplan up for the second game

Rams:

-West coast team coming 2 time zones to pay a cold weather team outdoors

-Almost lost to Carolina?

-Disadvantage: Same rest, the Rams were the number 1 team in DVOA this year, they have 2 uber elite WRs to face our hobbled beleaguered secondary

Damn shame about Trapilo.  How horrible would that be for him.  And the Bears of course, but more so for him.  Here’s hoping he can beat the odds.
