Can someone who understands this better than me explain wtf they're going to do with the 7 2nd round picks they've picked up this week?

Use them as assets for future trades, mostly. Right now they're effectively tanking and clearing salary so they can get a high draft pick in next year's draft and add a couple actual big money stars to the team rather than try to ride it out with 10 good players, which hasn't worked now for the 10th year in a row. Took them too long to realize that the Vuc-Demar-LaVine "big 3" wasn't actually big enough, and none of the assets they had could net them a first round pick, so the path forward is to stockpile lower end picks and use them in future trades.

So are we talking about drafting 18 year old Europeans with the hope they become either good players or tradeable assets?  Because it doesn't seem like there's any other real way to effectively go that route.

Nick Friedell mentioned on the Score yesterday that AK was Michael Reinsdorf’s first big hire and he just can’t let him go because it’s would make him look bad. He’s a Reinsdorf all right!

Cash considerations, baby!

This is the equivalent of burning the team down for the insurance money.

Go Wolves, though, I guess, if I'm going to root for an NBA team, might as well be one that tries.

i think all the other FOs are in a group chat talking about how no one is allowed to trade the bulls a first round pick

Not defending this crappy FO however, it's kind of difficult when none of your tradable assets are worth a first-rounder.

The Bulls are now two 2nd round picks away from filling up their punch card and getting a free one.

I've heard that there's a little known rule that teams that exchange 9 second round picks for an additional 1st round pick.  4D chess by AKME.

But seriously, if the returns seem underwhelming its because they traded everyone 1-2 years too late in an attempt to embrace mediocrity.

So....AK took a peek at the Thunder strategy and decided to make a worse version of that?

I know AK has the cloak of protection in the form of Michael Reinsdorf, but jeebus. AK is teaching a masterclass on how NOT to run a basketball team. No wonder the Bulls FO is a joke to other FO.

Besides Lonzo, at one point in their Bulls tenure everyone the Bulls traded was worth at least a (protected) first rounder

Maybe this is just a cultural issue. If I remember correctly AK is originally from somewhere in Europe. I know they use the metric system and other weird things. Perhaps over there the second round comes before the first?

I think he's from one of those former commie countries. First rounders are a tool of the bourgeoisie. Second rounders are a symbol of the proletariat.

But the funny thing about suddenly stockpiling 2nd round picks is they spent their first several years treating 2nd round picks like they were radioactive, selling them off or dumping them for euro prospects that never planned to play in the NBA.  Now all the sudden they are the Temu Thunder

I can't be convinced that there's  more incompetent FO  in sports.

By no means is this a complement to the Bulls FO, but the Kings do still exist.

Bulls lose a 2nd rounder because of White's physical lol

I don't think they should. White's calf trouble this season was not a secret. It's been on the injury reports all year. If they are surprised that he failed a physical, that's on the Hornets, not the Bulls. Bulls should fight this, but knowing AK he won't.
