If the Bulls are entering a rebuild, contracts like Williams are exactly the type they should be trading for, not away.

Cutting him isn't great asset management either IMO.  Just keep him for a couple more years and maybe in the last year of his deal he can be used as a matching salary in a deal if the Bulls are ready for that in their building process by then.

Who's gonna take him without giving up a better asset with him?

Just cut him and eat it.

Agreed. Do not waste a draft pick on a Patrick Williams trade.

No AK

2 picks in the top 15

No more P-Will

Are things looking up?

Unfortunately 3 more years of the Pwill contract, but things are looking up.  AKME was the Ryan Pace of the NBA.  Please just hire someone competent.

I dont have a problem with Billy per se, but this is very positive for the Bulls because it prevents ownership from doing stupid things.  They might still do stupid things, in fact its more likely than not that they do but we can have some hope they don't botch it.

It prevents ownership from doing one specific stupid things, but plenty of stupid things remain on the table.

Just spitballing, what if they bring Paxson back as VP? (Keep in mind, he's still working as a special advisor to Reinsdorf)

Even Donovan was sick of the Reinsdorfs. The shocking thing to me is that it was only 6 seasons. Felt like 16.

Remember all the positive vibes when AK hired Billy?   Not quite Pace hiring Nagy but close

In his defense, Billy was never the problem.

he was given bad teams but i'm not convinced he's a good coach either

I find it hilarious that Michael Reinsdorf came across like Billy returning was an ironclad done deal, and Billy coaching the team was non-negotiable for anyone interviewing for the front office.

Whoopsie!

I have a feeling they'll pull from the college ranks, maybe Jon Scheyer or Dusty May.

Dusty just won a title and his sons are both enrolled there, why would he want to leave for one of the least serious organizations in sports?  I do think he will eventually leave for the NBA but not for a few years and not this horsefeathers show. I could see Scheyer due to his local ties.

but I don’t think the Bulls are going to get a big name hire, even with a new FO it’s hard to overcome their reputation.
