I know this is some sort of stupid.....what prevents the Bulls from going after Brad Steven's?   I generally hate cross sport correlations, but that really would feel like the Cubs getting Epstein

That was a really stupid pick. The guy is built like Kevin Durant before he hit a growth spurt.

Except for Buzelis that's true of every Karnisovas' pick.  IMO even Buzelis doesn't really count, he fell into the Bulls' lap.  They were completely prepared to draft another bust.

I'm sad to say the firing of the FO does basically nothing for me. I'll still pay very little to no attention to the Bulls. You can't be below average to terrible for a decade straight, still show no signs of being relevant and keep my attention. Buzelis and Giddey are nice players, but neither should be your top 2 players on a contending team. Where are those 2 players going to come from?

Also, extending Patrick Williams is still the single stupidest move I've ever seen an NBA GM make.

Oh boy, wait until someone tells you about Nico Harrison

The lack of will is the only thing stopping them

the Mavs are gonna go after presti, stevens, etc from what I’ve heard

I'm not saying he's going to be great, but he was mocked to be drafted anywhere from 9 to 15 so not a reach.  Might suck, may have been a bad decision, whatever.  But he wasn't a reach.  He looked pretty good in the summer league despite that funny picture of him getting dunked on.

Sounds like the Bulls are going to force the new FO to keep Billy Donovan(if he wants to stay). So this hiring process is doomed from the start.

All the best and most desirable targets are just clamoring to be the GM for a team that they don't even get to call the shots on.

Bulls chances of getting an additional 1st in the 15-18 range are looking good.  Given AK' no longer making the picks, there's a chance 2 top twenty picks could materialize into something for them.

So the Blazers have to beat one of the Suns, Clippers or Warriors for their 1st to be transferred to the Bulls?  Is that correct?

Pretty sure they just have to make the playoffs to ensure their 1st isn't a lottery pick.  So yeah they have 2 chances to win 1 game to secure their playoff spot.

Because it affects the Bulls, I fully expect the Blazers to lose both because thats the kind of horsefeathers that happens to this sad sack organization.

the bulls are really a mess. they finally miss the play-in and their reward is (likely) landing in the worst spot in the draft. too low to get a blue chip, but too high (and you're too bad) to take some older college junior role-player. if you end up at 9 or 10 just trade the pick, let billy go (he will not do a rebuild) and crash out next season. I like Buzelis and Giddey but they aren't even championship building blocks, so if a tank year costs you them too, well ... ok fine

The Bulls had a team full of great 6th men on championship rosters, sold almost all of them for zero first round draft picks, and did it late enough that they couldn't even get good lottery chances this year.

Meanwhile, Reinsdorf fires AKME for not making the play-in and determines the new front office has to keep Donovan.

Somehow this still isn't even the worst basketball franchise in Chicago.

The Sky make the Bulls look like the Dodgers in comparison lol.  But yeah, I don't know if Michael Reinsdorf is too in the weeds to see how absolutely awful the franchise is being run or if he's just a narcissist nepo baby that refuses to believe what he's doing is incompetent.  Either way, short of lucking their way into a superstar through the draft I don't see the situation getting better any time soon.

Outside of a few games when they were playing well at the end of last season I havent really watched the Bulls in 3 years and this year I wasn't even box score watching, they barely existed as a franchise to me.  I used to be if anything too emotionally attached to the team, now they just sort of exist as a faint memory.  I'll happily jump back on the bandwagon again if they get interesting again.

Despite all the incompetence the Bulls find themselves at a pivotal fork in the road moment.  If they hire a good VP/GM and get a little lotto luck, they could really turn this thing around quickly.

I know it's the Bulls but one good hire (like the Bears getting Ben Johnson) can really lock things into place.  They don't have a Caleb Williams on their roster but the job is desirable enough as is.  This could be a transformative offseason.

Portland beat PHX and the Bulls now have a second FRP (from the Lauri Markkanen trade) in this year's draft.

I had written off that pick and assumed it would eventually convey into a 2nd round pick.  Good to see that other organizations can pick themselves off the mat and build talented up and coming teams.
