Unlike the chaotic AL, everything in the NL is locked up besides the final Wild Card spot. Cubs are on rest duty today.

If you can believe, the Mets' latest September collapse could catapult the Reds into the playoffs. A Cincy win or NY loss is all it will take. The Reds play the Brewers, who have already locked up the best record in the league and a bye... will be interesting to see if Milwaukee tries its hardest to play spoiler.

I would guess maybe 3 innings from Assad. Then go to Wicks. I expect Assad to be ready for a multi inning role, if needed in the playoffs. So don’t expect more than 40-50 pitches.

MO behind the plate! and then Shaw gets a day off after already having a couple...... So bizarre not playing Alcantara/Turner.

Love Mo behind the plate. Surprised to not see Alcantara. Figured Castro would play, but thought he would play for either Nico or Dansby. Guess with guys going good he doesn’t want to sit them. 🤷

Cubs playoff start time are both day games.

Plus there's talk they may go with an opener for game 1

I suspect Assad and his 13% K rate probably won't be needed in the WC round

Apparently the Cubs agree. But seriously how many pitchers do you have over him on the cubs  staff? How many pitchers do you think they will carry? And can you name that many without naming Assad?

Not surprising, but that sucks.  I sold my Game 1 and 2 tickets because I wouldn't be able to get off work, and I'm pretty sure both days are full of meetings so I'll probably barely be able to watch/listen.

I'm guessing it's the 14 on the active roster now minus Assad and Wicks, to get 12. Perhaps Brown or Hamilton for Rogers but unlikely

Why did Counsell rob us of Svanson vs. Swanson?

I feel like after yesterdays debacle with Michael Busch, Counsell is depriving the Cardinals fanbase of a Svanson vs Swanson matchup because it’s the most excitement 2025 might have provided for them.

Must be. I am not a fan of Rogers. 🤷

Nice, Marquee! We have to sit through every last actor singing the stretch every day, but not your ground crew. Pretty scummy.

Good way to end the regular season. A 92 win campaign is nice, we will have finished 4-5 wins behind a Brewers club that had 11 and 14 game win streaks this year. Very confident we can win the division next year.
The pessimistic side of me isn’t confident against the Padres, but it’s so nice just to be in the postseason again.
