Nice! The next opportunity to see umpire kid on a national broadcast is against the Yankees. Millions of angry New Yorkers is a scary thought.

We horsefeathers get it, he's a kid dressed in an umpires uniform and pretending to make calls throughout the game.  Like I know its a blowout but we really don't have to spend the entire game showing him after spending all of yesterday showing him.

I think that the game is on ESPN tomorrow so they'll do it too

Busch with a strong game tonight....his stance at HP reminds me a LITTLE of Bill Buckner. He was my favorite Cub growing up cuz I hit lefty as well. Loved me some Billy Buck.

Smoltz makes me want to pour molten lava into my ears.

I came in here to post similar...he's BRUTAL. All he wants to do is talk about himself. Narcissist.

Okay, I went and checked the Mets feed of William Contreras pitch clock violation pitch as they have the timer on the screen (Brewers feed doesn’t) and the timer is on 00 before the pitch was thrown. So it was the correct call.

I forgot Smotlz pitched for the Cards.

He should be introduced on future broadcasts as “The third best pitcher on that 1990’s Braves staff, the Hall of Famer John Smoltz”.

When was the last time that PCA didn't swing at a pitch?

PCA needs  a full day off tomorrow with Monday off day, hopefully that'll help

That was the most unenjoyable 9-1 win I think I have ever watched thanks to John Smoltz and Fox’s insistence on holding us hostage to the cringey ump kid.

Yep. This is from the broadcast right after they got done showing a replay of the previous play. Clearly on 0 and Helsley hasn't thrown the ball yet.

I know the Brewers are playing excellent baseball, but man it would be nice if just one team they played decided they didn't need to step on their collective dicks all at once.

How is it so hard to find guys who can competently and likeably call baseball games

Fine point.

Also, Elise Menaker is underrated.

Maybe this game gets Busch and some other guys going.

Also, Shaw definitely makes too much contact for his own good this year.  So many of the balls he puts in play come on pitches that are very hard to square up.  Instead of whiffing he hits a clunker somewhere.  Sounds like a dull thud off the bat instead of a crack.  He needs to be more selective.

At least Nico gets the barrel on the ball a lot.

Matt Shaw has a 1.110 OPS since the break, I hope he keeps doing whatever the horsefeathers he's doing.

He's raking

Seems an odd time to post this analysis on Shaw. He has been doing great since the break and homered and tripled yesterday. The concern you have at this moment doesn’t track with his actual results lately?

5 pages, I see I wasn't the only one to take a day off from the Cubs

Well, they won too. Way more comments on games the Cubs lose than ones they win. People like being negative way more than being positive.
Even this one with a low amount of posts, the majority of them are on the announcers. Again, negative posts.

So then 3 different broadcast outlets will unfortunately deem it worthy to show the over and over again the whole game.

I don’t know that I can actually handle a 3rd night of that child umpire or whatever that’s about. Hopefully he stays home

But then how will mommy and daddy get their attention fix on Facebook?

Can someone explain to me why the Bluejays are the current leader in total fWAR with a +43 run differential? If wins correlate with runs, there’s 10 teams with a better run differential and pythag win%. This is current by the way and not projected.

If Someone more knowledgeable can explanation I’d appreciate it.
