F it and put PCA in the lead off. Seems like that’s the last time the offense was truly electric

When was this?

Yeah, let's put the guy with the .654 OPS against lefties in a spot where he'll get the most ABs against the lefty starter the Reds are putting out there tonight.  Terrific plan. 🙄

I am going to guess Tucker sits this game. Castro plays right again, Suzuki is the DH and Turner starts at 1st. We need Cade to pitch a great game and go 6 (at least). Shake the line up a but:

Hoerner, Castro, Happ, Kelly,, Suzuki,  Armstrong Nico, Shaw, Swanson

Something to change it up. Hell, draw names out of a hat.

I look forward to see how we lose this game and how squally pops into the thread after to tell us that everything will be fine and Milwaukee will lose again eventually.

What an absolutely brutal series this has been...

I felt like we could have played another 9 innings last night and would not have scored.  The body language is terrible.  And my confidence level is zero that we are going to start hitting any time soon,

July 6th: Still 4 games up on Milwaukee and we’re way better than them. August 6th: We’re still 4.5 up on the Reds for a wild card spot and we’re way better than them.

depends on your definition of 'fine' I guess. 95.9% to make the playoffs is still better than we were at any point in 2023 or 2024. I know the vibes are rancid, they've been brutal watches (though Sunday ended up fun), but pretty much every good team in baseball besides the Brewers has (usually recently) gone through a stretch like this (or worse).

And yes, they will, at some point, hopefully in the next few weeks, lose again.

I was at the game yesterday and it was miserable. Then I had a dream they gave Jed Hoyer the $500 million extension that was earmarked for Tucker. Either the Cubs need to turn it around or I need a horsefeathers break.

Hot take but game 2 vs Miami in the 2020 playoffs was my most frustrating cubs loss. Not because of the stakes exactly but I not only predicted but knew Darvish would pitch a gem and they’d get shutout. I’m just glad no one there in person to witness that inevitable outcome. The lack of any element of surprise when the bats go cold no matter the manager season decade etc seems very Cubs specific.

I wasn't frustrated at all.  For one, the entire season felt fake.  Plus the offense had really struggled down the stretch of the season so I wasn't surprised that they struggled.  If they played 162 games, I don't think the Cubs win the Central, so it didn't suck as much to me.
