Always……..wink wink.  I get it.  Administrators could be lurking.

If you really think about it, if you work a 9-5 and drink at 8:55 AM, that counts as drinking after work.

Granted, it's drinking the next day after work, but time is relative.

Look, Shaw has been capital B Bad, the expected stats show him as hopefully being mediocre to average, but we're a long ways off from Good. I get that, and Suarez, with all his overperformance, is clearly an upgrade.

But if the Cubs are an F1 team with two cars, one of them is the best car in the league but has a crack in the windshield, the other one is middle of the pack at best and a couple wheels are about to fall off. We should probably fix the wheels before we fix the windshield.

This game is exactly what they needed before heading to NY, be awesome if they can get 2 of 3 there before the break, and it a possibility with Boyd and Imanaga going this weekend.

So help me god if they treat Judge like they did Raleigh I'm going to lose my mind.

Were the first two really this bad?

This has been the best called game I’ve seen all season.

Funny how some of you are not complaining now about Happ and Shaw hitting but im sure if I didn't post about how I think Hoyer might make a decision of sending him back after the break and bring someone else up til he finds another 3Bmen, you all know damn well you'd be moaning about Happ 0 for 5 and again how Shaw looks lost at the plate like you always do.

It ok, I'll stand in this field by myself here and I obviously hope they both go off and start hitting because as much as I bellyache about it, I do want them to succeed.

Like I said, if Shaw continues to struggle, nobody should be upset about it then.

As I said before, by bigger issue is your suggestion of bringing someone else up to play 3rd. Who, exactly? Who can play 3rd as good as Shaw and definitely hit? I am also frustrated with Shaw, but I do tend to believe Jason when he pre hrs stats. So I do trust he will get better. But I do understand your apprehension. But please tell me this minor leaguer we are bringing up to play 3rd.

Yeah ESPN's zones in their game cast have never struck me as particularly accurate so I'm not surprised they were apparently wrong.

Twins get a well deserved ass kicking by the Cubs.  Nice to see the Cubs bounce back finally take advantage of the many middle FB's and hanging sliders they saw.

Rereading the Bold Predictions thread looking for PCA predictions and even the ones that were very optimistic about PCA understated how good he would be.

JD is a national treasure lol

Boog: “Is there anything else you want to tell the people?”

JD: “Nah, I just keep blabbering on. This is normally where we say goodbye.”

I love him so much.

I came here to bash Happ too. That’ll be the theme of tomorrow’s game thread.

There was a lot more good than bad today so I'll address the good first. Rea with another gem and he's a solid 4/5 bottom of the rotation guy the rest of the year. He's been every bit as good as we were hoping Assad would be in that role. Props to him because without his 7 wins we wouldn't be in first place. What more can be said about PCA, the kid is a phenom and a joy to watch. He's must see TV for sure. I like Dansby's move down the order and he's hitting well and his glove is always solid.

Now the bad: Ian continues to be brutal at the plate and it's past time he moves to the lower part of the order. C'mon CC....shake it up. As for Porter Hodge, it's apparent the injury bug has bitten him unfortunately. Shoulders are tricky and scary really.

So for deadline moves we're still at a solid middle of rotation guy who can be slotted in behind Imanaga and Boyd and ahead of Horton and Rea. 3rd base? Yeah, Suarez is a dream trade for us but I just read the Yankees want him now so.....his price could be untenable at this point. Another solid bullpen arm? Yes please.

Jed's "lowball" offer is gonna cost the team about 200M. He's gonna need a Witt contract now.

Seriously, I'm very interested in knowing how far off they were.

Your comment was send him down and bring someone else up from AAA. While I side with Jason and those who feel he needs time here, I do at least understand your frustration with him in the line up. But where you really lost me was suggesting sending someone else up, as if that someone would be any better in the line up. And he would undoubtedly be worse on the field. I assume that someone would be Long. Are his AAA numbers any better than what Shaw’s were? And he is clearly not as good a fielder. If/when Shaw gets replaced, this year, it needs to be by someone they traded for. And I am not sure they even have to do that. But I do understand why you do.

Sorry, I just saw your post now to me.

As far as sending him down during the break, that more of a I wouldn't be surprised if Hoyer did that move. Bringing someone up is more because If he does that, then they'll need someone to replace him now.

That all my post was intended to be until someone mentioned about me being management, I should of just ignored instead of asking why and it would of avoided tearing up this game thread with that discussion.   My bad

IMO, Hoyer has two choices to make in regards to 3B and one isnt just leaving Shaw be and let him play it out there everyday and hope he starts hitting. I IMO just dont think that will do him any good now and just prolong his struggles.

I agree the answer to 3B isnt in Iowa, as i said above that was just a temporary move only IF Hoyer decided to make a move during the break and send him down.

You and I discussed before, the likelihood of adding a stud 3Bmen like Suarez is very low, but what would be good is getting a guy who can platoon with him at 3B and take some pressure off of him.

True, but that lineup has a few more legit guys that can hurt them then the Mariners have.

I'd love to get two, I guess I'll be happy to avoid a sweep and get one if it comes to that.

Muncy is out for at least 6 weeks too, so add the Dodgers to the mix.

He called out the defense last night when we botched the relay - and you very, very rarely hear JD say anything even bordering on critical about the players or coaches....but he flat out said they have to communicate.

And I do love that when Boog starts his I'm smarter than you stuff JD just plays dumb and makes a joke out of it to diffuse it.

He really looks like he is going to win MVP.

I don't see how Ohtani doesn't win it unless he gets hurt. Although, if PCA wins it, my bank account gets richer

Listen, coming into today, Shaw had 226 PA's and a very ugly .202/.248/.327 line

Oh, wait, sorry

That was the first 226 PA's for PCA last year. My bad.

We probably offered something like the Colt Keith contract and he wanted Jackson Merrill money. 20-30M?
