DJ LeMahieu was DFA'd

He's probably cooked but he's also probably a better option than Jeimer was for the 'sign him and see if he catches fire in AAA' conversation.

Where does his trade for Ian Stewart and Casey Weathers rank among the worst ever made by the Cubs?

I mean....not very high? His first four season in Colorado after the trade, 489 games, 1800+ PAs, he put up 2.8 fWAR combined. He bloomed late, and he's a career league average hitter. Plenty of things to lose sleep over, this one ain't it.

Shockingly Andrew Vaughn delivers in the clutch to tie the game in the 9th of Tanner Scott

Scott has been PUTRID for LA, and I'm really friggin' glad they overpayed for him and we didn't sign him. Yates gives up the game winner in the 10th and Milwaukee wins again....now within 2 games of us. They are hot.

You just have to tip your cap to that Brewers organization . Pretty amazing what they are able to do every year .  Doesn’t matter who they lose   , they just keep finding players to make it work .

interesting, did not realize it took that long for him to blossom.  So I know Lou Brock is always considered the worst....what are some others that are worse.

Outside of 2019 with Daniel Descalso being an automatic out for the first couple months at second base, it’s moot.

If it comes to down to a WC spot , I feel good about their chances of beating out SF / SD . At least they have that option if Milwaukee proves to be too much .

Brewers now 15-5 in their last 20.  They won't always be this hot (because winning 75% of games is unprecedented) but annoying nonetheless with them playing the Nationals next while we play at Yankee stadium

Yeah, it's frustrating for sure. Very possible they'll catch us or pass us by the all star break, and that's the bad news. However, we have a softer 2nd half schedule than they do so hopefully we can bolster our staff with an addition at the deadline and go from there:

Most especially with likes of Durbin, Ortiz, Collins and Vaughn supplying the offense, that's not sustainable, at some point it'll dry up.

I respect their consistency but it's that consistency that limits their ceiling as a franchise. They've become the NL's Rays. A good team yearly that can get the playoffs but not good enough to actually go deep in the playoffs.

Sounds about right. They flame out in the first round most every time they are there.

Well hopefully that first inning isn’t an indication of how the rest of the game will go. Missed a lot of pitches down the middle of the zone again.
