When O'neill fielded it cleanly off the wall I thought "well there's no way they're gonna send Happ here"

Damn...at least at 95 pitches he might not be back out there.

I'd take Skenes.  Given his age, he's not even close to his peak performance and that's a frightening thought.  Although Skubal is unreal too

The left-handedness is primary factor for me, if Skenes was a lefty I'd take him.

Two outs and all but that was a bad send

Nope. Right call. Pirates made the play. Wet ball hard to make 2 good throws. They did it.

Yeah, a lefty winning potential back-to-back cy youngs is pretty wild.  Although Kris Bubic might give him a run for his money this year.

It an obvious send but damn he wasn't close, only hope was for bit of a bad throw from the cutoff, and he made a great pickup on that short hop.

Horton just gotta get through this inning and hopefully the hitters will hit their pen.

He was out by like 4 steps, not sure if they needed to both be good throws.  Catcher could have caught it to his right and turned and still made the out imo

Agreed.  Got to take a chance with 2 outs

Skenes may be close to done, wouldn't think the Pirates are going to let him throw 120+ pitches.

Now this is over managing for the sake of it. Modern baseball is so stupid sometimes. Cade was at 76 pitches.

It’s not the right call when he’s about by 45 feet.

Exaggerate much? It is easy to criticize the send after the guy is out. But how about if he held and the SS bobbled the ball thrown in or made a wide throw home where Happ would have scored. Then people would have been complaining that he Cubs should have sent him. Suzuki has looked bad against Skenes today. What was the chance he gets a hit? 25%. So if the send results in better than 25% chance of acoring(and I think it did) you have to send him.

all's well that ends well

I feel like you might have been able to get another full inning out of Horton. An inning you could have saved the bp arms on.

Most he's thrown is 108 this year, but I'm not sure they bring him out with 95 pitches unless they like the matchup against Seiya and bring in a lefty to face PCA
