I am sure Alcantara would be a better option. The problem is I think the Cubs want to get him AB. He won’t get them on the bench in the majors.

Yea, Alcantara and Caissie if not traded, one or both could be everyday guys next season depending on what happens with Tucker and the direction the new POBO/GM takes them if Hoyer isn't back.

You do wonder what the pitching coach comes out to say to a struggling starter

”You think you have one more in you, kid?”

”Yeah, I should do coach!”

* Out of the inning without further damage *

I always hated that stat.  No pitcher should be rewarded for giving up 3 ER in 6 IP.  That's very average

In today's game if a SP can go 6 giving up 3 that would likely compare to back in the day when a SP would complete a game or go 8 and giving up 3 or 4.

Bullpens are relied upon a whole lot more now then before when you basically just needed a really good setup man and closer.

Very true, with guys throwing harder than ever now.  BP is more important than ever

The Cubs have a viable RH CF option in Christian Franklin. Basically has a 400 OBP, 70 pt advantage over Alcantara. 30 pt advantage in wRC+. Alcantara does not look like an MLB hitter. Not enough contact or damage against breaking pitches.

4-1?  Feels like its 10-1.

Luzardo has thrown 74 pitches and likely isn't going more than 5.  The Phillies pen hasn't been good.  I'm not sure why you'd say this.

Another meatball scores 2 more.

Just dandy.

The fastball location is problematic.  He just has no idea where it's going to end up way too often.

Brown still lacks a reliable third pitch. It's hard to be a starter with only two. He will need to go to work this winter or he's a bullpen guy.
