Yes, it's fair.

I'm going to wait and see him be healthy before I give him a slot.

Do not get me wrong, I do believe he's a top 5 talent in the system, when he is healthy.

I don’t see how anyone could put Conrad in the top 10z

Heh heh, for me it's more "I don’t see how anyone could put Hernandez in the top 10z"

Interesting still has Alcantara over Cassie, would be curious to see the rational. Postional value I would assume.

It's close but I'd probably take Alcantara too.  You're starting with an advantage of something like 15-20 runs due to defense/baserunning, which is huge.  And until about three weeks ago Caissie's never shown that elite offensive production which would make you think he's likely to overcome that gap.

I think Alcantara has a much higher chance of busting than Caissie, but because he has more ways of impacting a game I think Alcantara's probably going to end up a better player.

I always saw KLaw as a good writer with some interesting insights, but his prospect lists come across as contrarian and a bit curmudgeonly.

The fact that he refuses to change an opinion on anybody once he's made an initial evaluation is sure something.

Keith Law loves an argument. I'm convinced he takes fanbse engagement in arguments into account when he lists prospects and looks for a fight by refusing to change his opinion.

Which isn't to entirely devalue him, he is a smart guy, just one with lots of caveats.

God forbid a prospect has a bad game while he's in attendance.

FYI Pipeline updated their top 30s ahead of the deadline.

Cubs
Infielder Pedro Ramirez and right-hander Ryan Gallagher were flying under the radar in a top-heavy system, but that's no longer case. Ramirez (No. 16 to No. 7) is challenging for the Double-A Southern League batting title at age 21, while Gallagher (No. 17 to No. 8 ) swiftly rose to the same level in his pro debut thanks to his fastball/changeup combo and strike-throwing ability. Top 30 list »

FYI - Pipeline only adjusted most team's top 10s or 15s and just dropped everyone else down the list accordingly so it's not a full fledged update.

I was wondering why they didn't include the draft picks, especially after Callis said he'd have Conrad 2nd or 3rd.

Update:

They called it “market corrections” in advance of the Trade Deadline.

"It’s not a full-on rerank -- that will come in August with the 2025 Draft class folded in -- it’s a freshening-up of all of the lists. We’ve reranked every team's top 10 and then made room for any players who deserved to jump up or move down 10 or more spaces on their respective team rankings."

Worth noting before people get their pitchforks out that Longenhagen was the low guy on Caissie and Mo coming into the year.  So it's less that he's dropped them and more that he hasn't bumped them up.

Chase DeLauter is 29th on that list, in AAA, a few months older than Caissie.  He doesnt have the K issues that Caissie does,  and they have nearly the same BB%. Other than that, Caissie is better at everything.  The tools are louder and the production is better. DeLauter also has a significant injury history.

To each their own, but if Chase DeLauter has a better career than Owen Caissie, I'll become celibate.

Our system kind of went from a B+ to a C- this season, even as Wiggins, Rojas, and Gallagher popped up and all but Alcantara has had a really good season. The warts are just too clear.

Well, they did have two top 50 prospects graduate.
