His dad sounds like a peach.

I remember him making several comments on twitter last year basically calling out the Bears indirectly.  That said, if the Bears and Caleb play well, I doubt he's much of a concern.

Sounds like a guy who wanted his kid to go into a situation where he could succeed and based on the Bears history (and the idiotic decision to keep Eberflus) I have a hard time blaming him for his position.  And we all know he's right about the CBA/salary cap being trash.

Just another affirmation that the McCaskeys need to sell the team because they're incompetent boobs.

I believe the Bears have gone to great strides to put Caleb into a position where he can succeed and that's all you can ask of any team.

No one would watch film with Caleb or even tell him what to watch? WTF were the coaches doing?

Believe we read or heard of a high degree of un-professionalism, a lack of attention to detail amongst the last coaching staff.  At the least, it sounds like the Bears have remedied those issues.

No, I can ask that they fire an obviously incompetent coach before a second double digit loss season.  They could have had Ben Johnson before last year and avoided ALL of this horsefeathers.

I agree, believe everyone except the Bears' brass knew Eberflus should have been fired, I still think Eberflus was foisted upon Poles.  Poles knew full well Eberflus should have been fired, ownership had a heavy hand in him being retained.  And I'm not certain they could have had Ben Johnson last season, I really think he wanted to finish the job in Detroit by helping them get to the SB.

I believe on Black Friday the McCaskeys still had to be convinced to fire his ass. Hence the reason that Flus still had a press conference 2 hours before he was sent packing

I mean who can blame them?  The Bears are one of the most dysfunctional organizations in pro sports.

I'd have done the same thing.  To the Bears credit they've hired what appears to be a good coaching staff, as well as investing in the OL and weapons.  It's a nice spot now, but I still don't think Poles is good at his job.  In Ben and Caleb I trust.

Didn't Warren and Poles have to double team George?

Great question. Here's another, wtf was Ryan Poles doing? How do you let that horsefeathers go on in your program and not make a move sooner? It's sickening that Poles survived last year's mess.

Pretty much.  I bet the old bag probably said something like"Georgie don't fire Eberflus, he is such a nice young man"

In the end, Poles and Warren won out, thankfully

As bad as we all thought it was inside Halas Hall, turns out it was worse.  Who ever heard of not watching film with your QB?

I believe this team is in the best position to succeed on offense as it has been in my lifetime though.  And reading the end of the article it sounds like Caleb is thrilled with what’s happening.

It's been a running joke forever that Chicago is where QB's go to die. I can't blame either him or his dad for having those sentiments. The team was a running joke at the time given the rebuild and coaches who sucked.

Not sure who would buy a book about this though. Good luck with that.

I think so, but there was also talk of Caleb not being the hardest worker

If true, sounds like Ben Johnson is going to fix it, I don't think he's in the business of giving free passes to anyone.  Moreover, I remember, at one point last season, many of the players were requesting they'd be coach harder, kept on task - Johnson will fix this as well.  Thought I read something about Poles questioning lack of attentiveness during training camp?  If so, my guess is he stepped in and talked to Eberflus, of course, once you set the tone of not being serious, etc. it's hard to break.

That’s a small portion of the book.

I also remember talk of some players at least suggesting there was a lack of accountability.  I can’t remember specifics.

It's all water under the bridge. At least for once, everyone looks like they are on the same page. They had their draft and drafted guys for Johnson's approach. I am optimistic about the future. I don't think Poles is the right GM for this team, but time will tell.

Thanks for posting this. Hard to say Carl was wrong about anything. Props to Caleb for hanging tough all season and not complaining publicly.

The myth of Chicago is where QB's go to die is, just that, a myth.  With Mitch and Justin the only things the Bears were guilty of is drafting QB's who don't have what it takes to consistently succeed in the NFL.
The Bears didn't coach their flaws into them and they sure as horsefeathers couldn't coach them out.  Just ask Steelers, with a proven coaching staff, why is Justin no longer their QB?    Media keeps perpetuating this nonsense.
