The fact that Poles is still here leads me to think the most likely outcome of anything they do this off-season is bad

Yes, starting with the draft, Poles will be position to draft Campbell (LSU) or Banks Jr. (Texas) he won't take either.  Instead he'll draft Simmons (OSU) who had season ending knee surgery in October.  And of course, Simmons will have some problems with recovery, or will re-injury the knee in OTA's or some stupid horsefeathers, basically, because of injury, he'll be ineffective.

Not getting Ben Johnson and having him go to the Raiders because we insist on keeping Poles would be another low point for this franchise. Warren clearly isn’t enamored with Poles, so why is he still here? I guess everything comes down to the trade for Carolina’s 2024 pick.

Everything must be up to George then. This horsefeathers family has to mettle in everything

Excellent, that's one less mistake Poles could make, of course, plenty of mistakes - Flores, Weaver, Kafka - remain.

For me, the site is trash.

I get it. Trust me I do. All I get in my feed is right winged crap. But it’s still the dominant source of real time news sharing until BlueSky or whatever completely takes over. Banning all tweets would do a disservice to the forum. But I’ll absolutely be more careful about who’s tweets I’m sharing in the future

Vrabel was my number 2 I think after Johnson

Im glad vrabel is off the board. Floor-raising defensive coach is not the play

Yeah I wasn’t excited about him either.

Wait we don't want to link to X at all anymore or that specific account?

I'm guessing you are referring to the specific account and now that I think about it, the account had that stupid pepe thing.  It didnt even click with me until this morning.  Apologies @Outshined_One and the board.  Definitely not the image I want to project here.

Technically both could apply, but yeah, the account.

And you're good. Mistakes happen.

Thankful Vrabel is off the board and saves Poles from himself.

By the way they keep interviewing people. We’re up to 20 or so candidates it’s kind of nuts.

Yeah a competent organization would have zeroed in on 5 or 6 candidates in the 6 weeks since they fired Flus. Also, candidates like Carroll and Vrabel, why didn't they do those interviews in December?

I’m less bothered by the Bears not starting their interview process until the end of the season than other people. They clearly honed in on who they wanted to talk to in the last few weeks and months - they just didn’t interview people until the season ended. I can see that being a distraction to the team and Thomas Brown and why introduce more uncertainty while the season is ongoing.

I don’t think any other team was interviewing coaches mid season so I don’t think it really cost us anything.

This may have mentioned before nevertheless, if Caleb was in Denver or DC he'd be the run away winner for ROY.  He'd done way more than Daniels or Nix did and it's not even close.  Is just a shame the Bears wasted a year of Caleb with inept coaching and an OL that was a disaster.

On the other hand put Nix or Daniels in Caleb' situation?  Would either have come close to doing what Caleb did?  Not a chance.

Brady, Monken, Coen

I think I'd take any of those guys, or Johnson obviously. But for all 4, I'd love it if there were a long-time DC or even a former HC to bring in to run the defense

Vrabel wasn't free until recently.

How exactly are they supposed to narrow down the 5 of 6?

People just need to stop being impatient.  Bears have often worked quickly - it means nothing.

Hopefully this table is viewable…I have them at 19 names that they’ve requested to interview or been connected with. Which, of course, is ridiculous.

edit: no go on the table, so here it is as an image. Vrabel and McCarthy getting cut off at the bottom.

I don't see the problem with all the interviews, there's quite a bit to criticize about the Bears.  Complaining about the who they do interview seems like useless piling on melodrama.  Let's just keep finding more things heap on the Bears because everything must be bad.

they are interviewing 19 candidates..I'm not sure that is "honing in" on anything. seems just the opposite

Disagree. More than a dozen is a waste

reflects on poor management skills. Succession planning is business 101 horsefeathers that should have been settled months ago

I think it’s going to be Pete Carroll with Mike McCarthy as OC

That wouldn't be the worse outcome, as they're both 60+ plus years old it might not be a long term solution.  They could probably turn the Bears around.
