 My off-season wish list:

An offensive head coach who will want to significantly overhaul the roster and dilute Poles' influence

Two veteran offensive linemen to stop the bleeding, two more highly drafted ones to set up long term.

A fast WR to play outside and stretch out defenses

Release Everett and sign a 1b TE to push Kmet for playing time

Draft an RB to take over 1a from Swift

We are most of the way there

I’m traveling, but just wanted to express my appreciation for the pickups so far. They set up the draft to be best available. They can continue solidifying the trenches AND add more skill guys. I think I read that they are bringing back Taylor and Williams on defense?

anyone have any idea what kind of cap space remains?

We don't have any structure details that I've seen.  So we can only guess and reiterate Poles has the flexibility to do anything he wants to do cap wise.

Darrell Taylor landed with Houston. Chris Williams is still around.

Yeah. Saw the blurb about Taylor about five minutes after I posted that.

I'd add a kicker with a big leg to the off season wish list.

From The Athletic:

Quote

C Drew Dalman to sign with Bears

Top 150 ranking: No. 15
Reported deal: Three years, $42 million
Grade: A

The signing of Dalman, formerly of the Falcons, gives the Bears a versatile, well-rounded center capable of fitting into any blocking scheme necessary. Dalman missed eight games with an ankle injury, but in the nine he did play in, he allowed a total of only 10 pressures and no sacks. Chicago has made upgrading Caleb Williams’ line a high priority this offseason and Dalman is the latest piece to the puzzle.

Quiet for the Bears today.  Only things I've seen (and tbh haven't looked super hard) is that Hendrickson may still be in play and the Bears are sniffing out the WR3 market with names like Tim Patrick and Tyler Lockett mentioned.

They did resign their backup long snapper officially replacing Patrick Scales that missed all of last year.

Leonard Floyd is a FA. He’d be a decent 2-3 year guy while averaging 10 sacks as he has the last 4?

Think he signed somewhere. Atlanta maybe?

Cooper Kupp looks like he is going to be released. Any interest in adding him?

I mean yeah, but there are other teams that could use a WR1 and are likely willing to pay much more than we would.  For instance the Patriots have been desperately trying to land a number 1 WR for Maye.  I know they've spent a lot so far but they had the most cap space heading into the offseason so I'm sure they have enough to afford him.

Per reporting from Courtney Cronin Dayo Odeyingbo's deal is a 13.5m signing bonus and 3m base salary in 2025 and 500k roster bonus.

That should equate to a year 1 cap hit of 8M (assuming no voids which I have zero reason to think Poles would, even though he should).

Definitely more backloaded than most of Poles big deals have been.

So easy to get out of without much dead cap?

It's just fun.  We're all here caring what strangers on the internet think about the Bears.  I'd think the opinion of a member of a rival team would be at least interesting.

I’m getting caught up on Bears articles on the Athletic this morning. It sure seems like this is Johnson’s team now. Poles was barely mentioned. If I’m Poles I kind of like that but I don’t
