Bosa seems cooked to me.

He JUST made the pro bowl

Eta: I realize the PB isn’t what it used to be, but it still belies the idea that he’s “cooked” imo

With 5 sacks in 14 games, which was the same number he played combined in the prior two seasons. 28 games played in 3 seasons. Compared to Khalil Mack who has played 50 in the same time frame. Sure mack is significantly older but at some point if a guy goes three straight seasons of being unable to even play 15 games, you have to think he’s not long for the NFL.

if one of them would take a one year prove it deal then I guess I’m not gonna complain. But you can’t expect Bosa to be a bookend to Sweat for the 2025 season.

I want a young guy on the other side of the line. Sweat is gonna be like...28-29 next year? I want a young, fast, extraordinarily physically talented guy on the other side. But what I "want" doesn't necessarily mean its possible of course.

Sure the headline isn’t great but he is a guard that was forced into playing tackle and he struggled there.

I swear I read yesterday that he did well at tackle.  I have no idea if that's true or not and I doubt the Bears plan on using him at tackle anyways so probably doesn't matter.

So the Bears signed Durham Smythe, formerly of the Dolphins. Ben Johnson ties.

Some whispers of the Bears being interested in Michael Mayer.

I’m not a fan of bringing in unproductive players that coaches worked with before, but hoping it’s dirt cheap contract and Johnson is better at this than all the other guys that suck at it.

If I am recalling correctly, the last time the Bears were aggressive to add veteran talent on the OL like this was with Tait and Brown, exactly 20 years ago.

In terms of grabbing g multiple guys, yeah that’s probably true. One-off acquisitions, Pace, Bushrod, and Sitton were all pretty significant signings when they happened, though Pace turned out to have nothing left in the tank.

He's probably not much worse than Everett, in fact, I think there's a real good chance he's an improvement.  Everett was terrible even for a second TE.

I see Smythe replacing Lewis, not Everett.

He's probably an improvement over Lewis as well, heck, he's 11 years younger.

RE: Bosa

I see two problems.

First, It's not a situation were the Charges are still paying him X Million thus letting a different team pay him next to nothing. Similar to Wilson last year. Instead the 5-7-12 or whatever he signs for will be all risk for the new team.

Second, he most likely will break his wrist while signing the new contract and miss 12 games.

I believe Bosa and Mack are cooked and therefore not worth consideration by the Bears.  I'm in the Young and Davenport camp and maybe, kick the tires on a trade for Hendrickson.

Allen is a bit on the old side, but I'd rather sign him then trade for someone. If we are at that point, why not Pearce from Tennessee at #10?

Believe their pick at #10 depends on what happens with Dalman.  If they sign Dalman, I'm thinking they go Jeanty at #10.  If not, then DL might be in order at #10.
