It's funny to think about the fact that in an alternate universe where like 15 inexplicable things don't happen the Cubs are right in the playoff picture right now.  This team isn't great, its maybe not even good, but its good enough to make the playoffs.  It just constantly shoots itself in the foot at the worst possible moment...at least considerably more than other MLB teams do.  Though maybe that's part of why they're not good, they are lacking some awareness attribute that allows them to succeed in those moments.

PCA’s apparently elite defense has saved the cubs a lot of runs, but PCA knowing he plays elite defense cost them that game. woof.

I have yet to see one thing this year that would suggest to me that Craig Counsel is a great manager.

 

The communication on defense and the base running errors have been atrocious. Why is this still such an issue 100+ games into his tenure. Why is the focus not there? 

 

40 million dollars for this guy has been an absolute joke thus far, if I was Ricketts I would flipping out.
