Remember in 2005 when the Cubs were really struggling on offense and they randomly called up Matt Murton from AA, Adam Greenberg and sent down Corey Patterson?  Not saying it necessarily worked but it felt like the Cubs were saying “this isn’t acceptable and we’re gonna try something else”. I think the Cubs went on a brief streak after that.

Not sure if there’s a logical parallel with this years team but I’d like to see us find a way to shake things up and try to reduce some of the stink that is surrounding this team. Because it’s pretty horsefeathers stinky right now and after 7 weeks I don’t think “hope it gets better on its own” is going to work

It’s time for some pink slips to some players maybe even a couple coaches. Bring some fresh blood up. Cannot keep having Groundhog Day lineups and dead ass hitters.

Need a yard sale. Hopefully, some of the players that other teams would want will waive their no trade clauses.

“Yes! We’re playing the Cubs, can’t wait to turn our luck around and get some wins.” I’m sure this is what every ball club thinks coming into a series against the Cubs.

Why is Morel so bad this year? I did not see that coming after all his flashes last year.

Morel's results have been bad, all his peripherals indicate he should be really good. I'm actually not annoyed with him at all, he's been spectacularly unlucky to a degree I can't recall seeing from a Cub ever.

Agree. He’s progressed well.

They need something to change. I don’t know what. But, something.

What has he progressed well on? He’s 4 for his last 28 and batting .195

I mean you just have to hope that the results start matching what he's doing out there.  Very unusual to have this profile and have the numbers he has.

Speaking of Baseball savant, is there a player comparison tool that finds players with a similar profile?  I'd be interested to see some players with similar percentiles

His expected and actual results are 100 points to the negative. Like 4th worst in baseball.

Yeah its crazy....thats why I was hoping there's some kind of tool that says like "Most Similar Profile: Marcus Semien" (just picked a completely random choice of players, I'm not saying he's anywhere close to similar to Morel)

I get it man, he’s hitting the ball hard and all and finding some bad luck but at the end of the day those stats don’t matter if he’s not producing.

That all depends on what you're talking about. If you're talking about helping to generate wins to this point of the season, you are absolutely correct.

If you're talking about what is more predictive of how he'll play the rest of the year, then it is absolutely the underlying numbers.

Cubs Designated Cuas and selected Ethan Roberts

I'll always remember that Cuas was the bullpen help that Jed went out and acquired the one time that he attempted to be a buyer.  And he almost certainly went for Cuas over potentially better options because Cuas had several years of control.  The Cubs then missed the playoffs by 1 game due to several late inning bullpen collapses, many involving Cuas playing a large part.  Such a Jed move.

The first half of your reply is what I’m talking about. I see the data and how he should have better numbers.

They showed a stat on TV today:

Cubs hitting ..212 with RISP, dead last in NL.

Maybe they can try writing the lineup in reverse except keeping the catchers at #9.  Just do something.

Not one person is arguing that the offense, or Morel, has been good enough. Everyone here understands that an average offense would have this team in first place easily.

Pheeew what a relief, I’m glad everyone understands that.
