As someone that’s not sold on Caleb Williams being the QB of the century, any reports from camp now are worthless.  Whether great, terrible, or somewhere in between it just doesn’t matter right now. Getting worked up over them is dumb.

I'd anticipate struggles from any rook qb, but esp one going against our secondary. if anything, I hope its more a bellwether for how well the DBs will play going forward. but yea, its just OTAs. I just thought the reports were funny 7 STRAIGHT INTS ONOZ OMGZ

Cant believe the NFL made the Bears play in the HOF game, give up one of their home games for a game in London and made them the Hard Knocks team all in the same season.  I love it though

I can. They just had an A+ off-season and drafted a generational QB.

Waldron runs the same offensive system that Brady, the Manning boys and Drew Brees ran, just to name a few. It's a less complicated system than the previous regime was trying to teach, which also seemed to confuse most of the players.

I think this will be what makes them a playoff team in year one of the Caleb years. Simplify the playbook/offense to a system that produces results and provide weapons at all of the skill positions. Couple that with a solid defense and winning early can instill a lot of confidence in the rookie QB.

I'm not concerned about the distractions of Hard Knocks. There are already tons of distractions in preseason camp anyway. I'm actually looking forward to watching it. I'm already a huge homer before every season, and this season will be worse than the others.

lots of oakley wearers going to be firing up the take cannon when caleb shows up with painted fingernails

Honestly, this is probably the biggest reason I want him to be a huge success.  That group will have to eat their words and love him and his pink clothes and painted fingernails and they're going to hate it.

I wonder if there are media types who can't stand the Bears maybe got things right and are trending towards being good.  Was listening to the Score the other night, some national media type with a caller.  First thing they're regurgitating the Chicago is were QB's go to die nonsense. Followed by media type saying Bears fans' should temper their expectations and not expect any success from Williams because he had some struggles his last season.  I agree we should temper our expectations, me, I'm expecting Williams to be average, it's reasonable, attainable and a big improvement over Fields.  What media type doesn't get is, the Bears, with average play from the QB spot will score a horsefeathers-ton of points and probably contend for a playoff spot.

I guess the internet can stop panicking now

That's not how this works.  Now the internet panics that the defense is actually terrible.

This year I found a $26 ticket on Spirit (lol) from Chi to NO during Jazz Fest. It can be done.

You just have to be willing to fly Spirit.

I don't see a generic NFL offseason thread so I guess this place is as good as any. The Falcons were handed their punishment for the Kirk Cousins tampering incident and they didn't escape entirely unharmed, but it was pretty damn close. They'll lose a 5th round pick.

This has some more behind the scenes stuff from the draft--not just the Bears, but they seem to have the most airtime.  We have seen some of this before in their 1920 football drive episode, but this has new footage.  For example, around 32 minutes in when Atlanta is on the clock, Poles calls the Falcons GM and asks if they would be willing to swap the 8th/9th pick for a future 4th.  In the previous footage, it just seemed like they waited and it worked out for them.  You don't hear the Atlanta side, but what a weird move for them not to accept it.  The Bears obviously already took Caleb.  If the Falcons were just taking Penix, why give up the free pick?  Maybe they thought the Bears would then trade back with a team that wanted a QB (since Rapoport had given the rumor on air that Atlanta might be interested in drafting Penix at 8 an hour earlier), and that small chance wasn't worth a 4th rounder.

ETA: I guess looking back on the video now, the call was made when the Giants were making their pick (TV in the background), so maybe they said they would think about it or something and we never see a 2nd call.  But nothing in those next picks changed who the Bears or Falcons wanted, so I still don't really get why they didn't take the deal unless they really were really worried about not getting Penix somehow.
