I have to always temper my expectations because, they are the Bears, and there does appear to be some sort of metaphysical barrier between them and a modern, average passing offense.

But it would be goddamn hilarious if Caleb Williams comes out and immediately shatters the Bears QB season records, like, for example, PASSING FOR 4,000 YARDS IN A SEASON

Bears next pick is at 75, think they'll be looking at DL or, possibly, C?  Taking a quick glance at PFF remaining top 100, I see names like Georgia C Van Pran, OSU DL Michael Hall Jr., Washington Bralen Trice ranked 43rd and below.  Not saying the remaining rounds will go according to PFF rankings just trying to get a rough idea of who may be available at 75.

Where are the Bears biggest holes at this point?  OLine depth (not necessarily the starters) and the DLine?  Guessing the Bears try to grab a Dlineman with one of their remaining picks and BPA for the other.  Then wait out the remaining FA market to pick up another guy similar to Ngakoue last year?

Here are the remaining top FA Edge and Interior guys per some list I googled.  Obviously there are also potential casualties during training camp too:

Edge:

  • Emmanuel Ogbah
  • Yannick Ngakoue
  • Carl Lawson
  • Jerry Hughes
  • Charles Harris
  • Dawuane Smoot
  • Bud Dupree
  • Tyus Bowser
  • Marquis Haynes
  • Rasheem Green
  • Markus Golden
  • Shaq Lawson

Interior:

  • Calais Campbell
  • Hassaan Ridgeway
  • Lawrence Guy
  • Bryan Mone
  • Linval Joseph
  • Al Woods
  • Mike Purcell
  • Tyson Alualu

This is how I watched the draft last night. Some may be famliiar with Robert Mays, a lifelong Bears fan who was super excited about Fields when he was drafted, but he had a fun night last night as well. Full draft analysis at the end (each draft pick is time-stamped in the video):

I think they're gonna want Pickens and Dexter to get a lot of snaps. I think they go Edge or interior OL. Trading up for Van Pran would be awesome.

I like Dexter quite a bit, I think he's going to one of those guys that break out and have people saying who the hell is this guy?  Where did he come from?

I don't think he was that. He's a security blanket for a rookie WR. He is always open. It's gonna be hell on defenses to cover him and Moore and still be able to account for the other weapons. Caleb is walking into a dream situation.

one of the most amazing things to watch in the nfl the last several years is to watch keenan allen consistently by himself in acres of space when he probably runs like a 4.7 at this point

This is why you absolutely keep him on this roster despite Odunze. If he can teach Odunze how to run routes like that, Odunze becomes a true monster.

Just checking in to say I can't even believe how happy and excited I am as  Bears fan right now.  This is surreal.  So horsefeathers awesome.

Really reminds me of how I was feeling about th Cubs heading into 2015.

It's the NFL and contracts are easy to dump, so I won't be mad if they do, but I don't feel the need to extend Keenan Allen. Everyone's great until they aren't, and he's at an age where he's basically just wile e coyote staying in the air until he notices he's off the cliff and falls straight down.

Getting an elite wr was so clutch because despite all our investments, the wr room wasn't looking amazing more than a year or two down the road.

Poles comes out of the first three years looking like a genius, pending the small matter of actually playing the football games and winning them, but that's basically a formality probably.

87. Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale (6-5, 323)

Amegadjie is a raw prospect who needs technical and strength work before he sees live NFL reps, but his physical ingredients and competitive drive are the foundational elements that pro coaches want to develop. He projects as a backup left tackle as a rookie who has all the tools to gradually develop into an NFL starter.

Seems like a ballsy pick to take a guy who nobody expects to play as a rookie in the third. But they probably don’t want to give Braxton jones a second contract and you can never have enough OL.

Quantity is a quality; the more serviceable tackles you have for your budding superstar qb, the better

id prefer an all pro there, but until you find the all pro, stack the position as much as possible with potential. 2025 might be the year to get the all pro via draft.

Kiran maybe makes Borom a cap casualty. Bears can save 3m by cutting him. Bears visited the big guy pre-draft and seemed to be pretty enamored with him. I read that if he wasn't injured last year, he projected as a 2nd rounder.

Atlanta may have pushed Poles this direction after they drafted Trice right before the Bears.

It’s not just taking the wrong guy. They’ve taken the wrong guy and had the wrong coaches and the wrong teammates.

Williams at least has a supporting cast of players. The coaching situation is questionable.

Cutler is the only guy I think had a chance to be great with this team. But, just as you just said here, Martz and that OLine was Cutler's kryptonite.

Outside of Trestman when the offense was stacked with talent, the Martz years were the best the Bears offense was with Jay.

That team was rolling until Jay broke his thumb trying to tackle a dude.

That's kind of the read I got when he talked about the pick. About whether or not they were drafting bpa or for need and he mentioned that a DE got taken right before them and they took BPA.
