But an elite QB shouldn’t need more weapons. He can succeed with the horsefeathers we already have.

An elite qb can succeed with the weapons we have. But we can aim higher than merely succeeding

I guess I should add Roman to my list. I'd put him higher if I knew they were keeping Fields but I'm going to assume they will select a QB at 1/1.

I'd slot Roman behind Kubiak and Waldron but ahead of Olson and Coen.

Sure, although you look at KC and can see how lacking weapons matters. Nothing wrong with making the security blanket as nice and as comfortable as possible for the rookie.

Lacking weapons has led to an 11-6 record and the divisional playoff round for KC. Chiefs aren't an argument that lacking weapons matters.

I'd slot Roman between groveling to Luke Getsy and begging him to take his job back and sending Mike Martz a "hey big head" text.

I would say their defense being near elite has helped them to 11-6. If they had their 2020 defense they might be 8-9

Sure they are, if we're talking offensive weapons.  Every other team in their division had a losing record and their defense absolutely carried them this year.  Everyone just thinks of KC as an offensive team but their offense was middle of the pack this year, whereas the D was probably the 2nd best unit in the league behind Baltimore.  They only scored 30+ points three times this year... and if you move that bar up one notch, they only had one game above 31 points (of course, against the Bears).

Chiefs will have a tough time adding weapons as Mahomes' contract will jump another 20m this year.

Looking at the WR free agents, it's rather barren. I doubt any of the top tier WR's will be options. They either won't want to share catches with Moore, won't want anything to do with Fields if he is retained or is at risk of being retained. There aren't many second tier WR's that look all that exciting. If I had to focus on someone, it would probably be Tyler Boyd. He may end up staying in Cincy when Higgins signs elsewhere.

There is still hope for cap casualties to improve the WR availables. Another reason to be mad about trading for Claypool. Maybe we get Jacobi Meyers last offseason if we don't have Claypool. I'd probably be ok with a Fields/Meyers swap of some sort. He's a really solid possession receiver.

Also KC having a lack of weapons is only after they tried to avoid that and missed with several investments in a row(MVS in FA, using a 3rd+6th to get Toney, drafting Moore in the 2nd).

I haven't been much of a fan of Braxton Jones and have advocated for looking for a better tackle... but I might be willing to back off my feelings on this.

Tied for the 4th best pass block win rate, and middle of the road in double team percentage.

Pretty sure Poles is happy with his Tackles. Jenkins injury history, Davis and his missed time and ineffectiveness when he was in there makes it very necessary to have better depth at the G position. Center is the glaring need. I'd go so far as to say they need two Centers. Patrick needs to be shot to the moon, Whitehair cut, Feeney was a turnstyle and Kramer wasn't good enough to beat out Feeney.

I think the whole line will look better with a QB that can keep defenses more honest. More weapons won't hurt, either.

Random thought, but if Jaylon doesn't drop those pick 6s in back to back weeks, is he a dpoy candidate? If I remember correctly,  PFF had him as the #1 coverage corner. Those 2 int would put him in a tie for 3rd with 6; the 2td would put him into 2nd with 3 tds. I wonder how much money those 2 drops saved the Bears.

I many picks did he have on 4th down that he should have let drop? I think there were at least two of those.

If you have the ability to run after the pick, you should always take the pick even on fourth down just for the possibility of getting a score or much better field position.

The game was over basically, and I think they were long bombs at the end of games.

Would like

Seems like me and you are the only ones that would like Kingsbury. I don't see if happening, but very happy they interviewed, even if it's to get intel on Caleb with his WR coach's brother coming out and saying crap about him.

say wut....?

Former NFL QB, Brock Huard's brother, Luke, is the WR coach at USC. Brock says the Bears should "beware" of Caleb. Cited some stuff like he doesn't like the ball taken out of his hands, a personal ahead of team type guy.

Who knows if those warnings are true or not, but isn't confidence/arrogance to a certain extent what makes a lot of great QBs great? I feel like there'd be more smoke about him being a clubhouse cancer if the rest of the offense had a problem with it

A quick review of this story tells me it’s entirely based on Huard’s assumption that the bears will want to run the ball first, second and third. And rarely pass. That seems entirely contradictory to the idea of drafting qb first overall.

There's been a couple whispers here and there that Caleb isn't much of a team guy. But if he's good, IDK if that really matters. Aaron Rodgers wasn't a team guy for years in GB. Story came out from their OC today that he would change the play so often that they didn't remember what the play was supposed to be. I've known a couple NFL players as well and I've heard stories about star players being "unapproachable" and not very team friendly.

Yeah, mostly speculation. But seems like he wanted to say more but didn't want to talk trash about the kid so he made it more about "he won't be happy with Bear football" type stuff. But the implication that he isn't a team first guy is there.
