UConn also stopped being worried about Edey's scoring about halfway through the 2nd half. He scored 21 2H points, all of them from 14:15 on, and not a single one of them brought them any closer than 9 points.

UConn was able to concentrate on the supporting cast, too much size for Loyer and Smith plus working off the dribble to get open 3's or to the hoop is not their game.

My problem with it is it's called the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. If it was just for the final, I understand Newton winning it (although if it was just for this one game, I would argue Castle was the better player mostly due to his defense).

That game went about like I expected it to and I said beforehand that I expected a UConn win by 15 or so.  Clingan is a big enough body for Edey to deal with that you could tell he was on fumes the last 5-7 minutes of the first half and UConn was just too athletic everywhere else for the supporting cast to make enough shots.  I will say that was an extremely poorly officiated game although I don't think either team really benefitted much.  Hell of a season for Purdue after getting knocked out early last year.

AJ Storr headed to Kansas, no surprise, leave it to Dollar Bill to meet his asking price.  Although the Illini were finalists, Storr was giving me some Matthew Mayer like vibes, while his skill set and talent will be hard to replace don't believe Gard was too broken up about him moving on.  Nor do I think Underwood is hurting about him committing to Kansas.

A buddy who is a big KU fan just texted me and said it was all but a done deal to Illinois until yesterday when his gf committed to Kansas.

Okay, makes sense, want be with one's girl friend and all, the other stuff, Mayer vibes, is also a factor.

Rumor has it one of Stoors commitment  demands was to get his GF a spot on the women's team. BU said no, so Kansas swooped in.

Never wanted him. He's a chucker, who's only in it for himself. 43.2 FG%, sub 1 AST per game. Between 3 BIG 10 tournament games and 1 NCAA game, he had a total of 2 assists. He shoots 32% from 3. He's nowhere near a good enough shooter to be the only thing he brings to the table.

The Terrence Shannon Jr. trial is finishing up (tomorrow maybe?) and all indications are that it has been what it appeared it was going to be.  It is entirely possible that he did what he is being accused of, but this case never should have gone to trial with the amount of evidence they presented.  Why even put the victim through this for what appears to be an unwinnable case?

Not guilty on all counts.

What a shock. How this went to trial with basically no evidence other than her testimony and no witnesses or physical evidence is beyond me.

I completely agree.  Putting aside whether or not he actually did it, I don't see how you can go to trial without any evidence.  That really doesn't benefit anyone, and certainly not the alleged victim who had to testify and go through the entire process for nothing only to come out of it facing questions about her character and what her motivations were.  The prosecution's argument was mind-boggling, apparently attempting to frame Shannon as an entitled athlete who always gets what he wants.  The problem is, that was a completely made up narrative with nothing to do with whether or not he was guilty.  What was the point of any of this?

I do believe "something" happened to the alleged victim, but unfortunately there is no evidence to implicate anyone.  It will be interesting to see whether Shannon pursues any legal action now on his end or just lets it drop and moves on with his full focus on the NBA.

It certainly appears that this was a District Attorney with an agenda, and nothing was going to stand in the way of her bringing the case to trial.  In the end, it was bad for Shannon, bad for the alleged victim, and a complete waste of court resources and taxpayer money.

Shannon absolutely should sue. He was a projected 1st rounder with guaranteed money and now he's a projected 2nd rounder which would mean no guaranteed contract.

Illini just landed 2025 5-star Canadian wing Will Riley, who will reclassify to 2024 and be on campus in a few weeks. Fun collection of talent Brad & co. Have reeled in. It’ll be interesting to see how the team gels with only two returning players.
