According to this hastily googled link this would be the 21st biggest collapse in baseball history based on playoff odds. Might be higher because I think BP had them over 95%

edit: I guess it’s only up to 2011. But at least gives you an idea for where they fit historically

I turned the game on to see how the fake rally would die and I couldn't even get it on screen before someone screwed up

I have no idea how Swanson is still hitting .247 because it seems like he keeps going a week between hits.

Oh by the way, he would be the 8th best hitter in the Braves lineup.

I mean Braves extended everybody EXCEPT swanson and they seem pretty smart.

I don’t know how tonight gets any more hilarious with the Kay blown save and Swanson choking in the clutch.

Now to provide balance, here's Kyle.

nah, i pretty much agree. This is a team on the upswing and losing a bunch of close games isn't an intrinsi ability, it's just part of the variance-heavy nature of the sport.

I think we're overrating our near-ready hitting prospets because of Iowa, but in general I think this team is both good and on a positive trajectory.

Counterpoint: Good starting pitching is going to keep games close and terrible bullpen is going to lose a lot of those games.

Pretty much any scenario of the Cubs being decent next year includes Justin Steele being fantastic again and I don't know on what universe that can be counted on.
