Damn Marlins up 9-1 now.

It's weird that these teams who appear to be bad and on the verge of falling completely out of the race suddenly turn things around and go on winning streaks.  A few weeks ago, I thought the Marlins were the unlikeliest of all the wild card contenders to make the playoffs and now they suddenly keep winning.  Likewise, the Diamondbacks have alternated winning and losing streaks at various points.  The Cubs have been the one steady team over the past couple months.

lol, I literally did not watch or follow the Cleveland half of the 9th inning of Game 7.  I was walking around in Wrigleyville listening to various sounds coming from bars because  I couldn't stomach the thought of being in public watching the Cubs getting walked off in Game 7 of the World Series.

Game 7 was certainly stressful, but I never really thought we'd lose after that Addison Russell routine fly ball dropped between two outfielders in Game 6. Felt like kismet.

Lance Lynn vs Jameson Taillon will be a great playoff game.

I’ll take my chances with Wicks or Assad instead.

That's wild.  To still be confident after Rajai Davis went deep makes you a different kind of Cubs fan.  I was beside myself.

I was talking to myself in an unknown language after that

My wife has a 2 minute video, and I have no recollection of that time period,  between the HR and the top of the 9th

Damn Marlins up 9-1 now.  Gonna win their 6th straight after falling under .500.  Sucks that these guys we have lost the tiebreaker to are the ones hanging around.  I'm pretty sure we'll make the playoffs at this point but I'd like to stretch that lead out as much as possible.

Not worried about Miami at all. Their next 10 games are  Philly, Milwaukee and Atlanta. Then they play the Mets before getting the Brewers again. So unless they sweep Atlanta and the Mets while splitting the other games, if they get hot they’ll be helping us.

We’re 4 up on Arizona so they probably have to go 5-2 against us to have a shot at overtaking us..

I think sometimes it's a matter of bringing up a prospect(s) after the break or deadline, whether it a pitcher, hitter, or both that just starts out hot and kinda ignites the rest of the team with their energy.

IMO, only teams we should watch now  are the Diamondbacks and Marlins, that are chasing the cubs and the Brewers and Phillies that the cubs are chasing.

The Cubs now have the same amount of wins as the Texas Rangers, who at one point were 72-48 while the Cubs were 61-58.

Only 1.5 games behind the Brewers for the Division!  All this talk about the WC and none about winning the Division!  If the bats stay hot, the moon is the limit!

Why are you discounting the Reds? Cubs lose the tie breaker to them, just like the Marlins. Also, Reds schedule is much easier than the Marlins. Honestly, I am very confident the Cubs will get in. But if the remaining teams I think the Reds have the best chance of being that last WC team. I think the Braves, dodgers, Cubs, brewers and Phillies are all in. Those other teams are playing for #6.

I'd rather the Reds or Giants be the third WC, I believe the Marlins, with their SP, could be quite dangerous, plus their horsefeathers eating luck in one-run games.

Reds are 5 back in the loss column with 20 games remaining,  the Cubs would have to play pretty bad in their final 22 for the Reds to catch them and if they do then that most likely would mean that the Marlins and Dbacks passed them up too.

So for the Cubs, I'm just watching the Marlins and Dbacks for now, Cubs can take care of the Dbacks themselves this weekend.

Also, im not saying the Reds don't have a shot at the 6th spot, just saying that I don't feel they have a legit shot at catching the Cubs without any head to head left, unless the cubs go way south and or the Reds get super hot
