  1. Don't forget about a new, and real, manager, Greg Counsell. He's going to make a big difference. Lots of outstanding talent in the pipeline too. Things look better this time of the year than last year. Now, we old Cub fans know that isn't a given, but hope's eternal!
  2. I liked Sammy. He and Mark McGwire resuscitated baseball even if they were both into PED's. It was a fun time to be a fan after a lull in the game. I especially enjoyed the 500 foot home runs in the Home Run Derby during the All Star break. We all knew in the back of our minds something was going on, but it was too much fun to watch to get too excited about it.
  3. Our most recent ex president has.
  4. Putting Assad in the pen and starting Stroman was the last straw for me with Ross. That was just a stupid move! The two 9th inning losses to the Reds was a managerial failure, imo! Lots of reasons that Ross is gone.
  5. I sure didn't see this coming! I thought the Cubs were stuck with Ross for at least next year! I'm thrilled with Counsell! Can't wait 'til next year!
  6. I am not a predictor. I had hoped for a winning season and got that. The last month was subpar at least! I would like to see a more seasoned manager, one who can handle the bullpen better. I understand the bullpen was not talented but David Ross kept sending the same pitchers in tough situation, knowing they didn't have the stuff to get the job done. Leiter was the prime example of that. In addition to Ross and the bullpen not returning, I would say goodbye to Wisdom and Hendricks. I would like to see the majority of the team return, but that's up to Mr. Ricketts and how much he wants to spend. Joe Girardi is sitting at Marquee just waiting to be asked to take over as manager. I don't know if he would be a long term answer, but he'd be a step up from David. I like Ross but he's shown he hasn't really grown into the job. The Javier Assad/Marcus Stroman situation proves that, among many other blunders that cost the Cubs games. It's not time to just spin wheels, it's time to move forward. The nucleus is almost there. Some young talent and some veterans having career years. GO CUBS!
  7. At least he took Leiter out with the game tied. Winning run on 2nd with one out. Cuas isn't much better.
  8. Well, I stayed to the end as I always do. It didn't end well. But I'll be back at it tomorrow night and the day after too. It's still a shame to lose to a bad team like the Pirates, no matter how many the Cubs have taken in the past. These games are doubly important.
  9. I've enjoyed watching this Cub team this season, even when they were 10 under they had a swagger to 'em. I'm a long time fan, since the late 1960's, so I have low expectations most of the time. I hope they can complete the comeback tonight.
  10. Well, that puts him at .250 starting tonight.
  11. This looks like a slow pitch softball game! Leiter just doesn't have it anymore. I'm not sure what happened to him but he's ineffective.
