If I may add, both of the prospects are Rule 5 eligible for the first time this offseason.

Like 1908 said, Perlaza and Franklin make sense. Vazuez could too.

So if we acquire another bat then who moves off the 26-man roster?  Candidates are Amaya, Wisdom, Tauchman, maybe Mancini or Madrigal.

I would think maybe Amaya is most likely.

I'd guess Wisdom.

Barnhart would be most ideal, but it is rather unlikely to happen.  He has been a nothing this year and I would hardly expect that to change.

They should cut Mancini. He provides no value to the roster whatsoever,

Franklin is also eligible IIRC

Yeah, I had suggested him as a maybe up top, too.  Nationals love tools.  I'll be disappointed to see Franklin go because he's been a favorite of mine stuff wise, and I still think there's real deal upside, but he's a risky-ass prospect and in baseball sense, it's not a major loss more than likely.

Wisdom is doing exactly what the Cubs ask him to do: hit homers. That's all he does but when he's healthy he's pretty good at it.

It's pretty funny that since he returned his KBB numbers are actually fine-good but he cannot get a basehit to save his life.

When you first said Franklin, my first thought was Christian Franklin, and not Kohl.  I would rather lose Christian.

Yeah, Christian Franklin is a nothing burger from me.  Kohl still has arguably the best changeup in the system and a fastball that hits 97/98.  Zero consistency and at this point I'm not sure he'll ever find it.  Could be a leverage reliever, he has the stuff.  With that said, he's the kind of prospect you trade.

Possibly, he seems like the one least used these days.

Unused and if Candelario is going to come play 3b...I don't see what he does to get playing time.  I don't know why Mancini keeps getting PT, either, if we're being honest, so I'd be fine to make him go away as well, but I think it'd be more likely Wisdom.

Yeah, it would probably be Amaya sadly.  Don't think they're completely ready to give up on Wisdom yet, doubt they'd just cut Tauchman loose either, Mancini (and Barnhart - another name) are signed through next season, and Madrigal has been hitting well enough to stay on the roster.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was Wisdom though.  Certainly acquiring another 3B makes his roster spot tenuous

I think it has to be Mancini. Wisdom gives you a puncher's chance at the plate. It would make 0 sense to send Amya back down, but it doesn't make sense to carry three catchers either.

Why not include Wisdom in the deal?  He's not the long term answer for the Cubs and still has SOME value. Wouldn't a team like Washington be interested in him as a replacement for Candelario?

Cutting Mancini and putting Wisdom at 1B is ideal to me

I'm guessing the Cubs don't want to eat $7 million next year by getting rid of Mancini, and hope he can bounce back next season but who knows.  He's not exactly making a compelling case right now.

Yeah and Wisdom has some options left apparently.

I think they should get over that. The first half of 2022 is the only time in the last 3 years when he showed he could still hit. He sucks. Giving him two years was stupid. Don't double down on stupid m
