Interesting that Rosario right at slot. Not common for a HS guy after round 2.  That the league didn't value a guy with his power and arm higher than 6th-round slot may reflect how they scouted his hitting.

Have we ever established how tall he actually is?  I'd prefer 6'2", but have seen 6'5" and 6'6" as well.

In the past, I think we had a listing of all the draft picks in the first post and then that got updated with signing amounts as players signed.  That was a good quick reference to keep track of who had signed, rather than trying to parse through all the individual signing posts.

I did that in the past but @Brock Beauchamp said he has a tracker he's updating. Maybe he can link it here so it can be easier to check?

If not or if you guys prefer something here, I can edit the third post in this thread (my post) with all the signing info as it updates.

Confirmed with the scout that signed him that Rosario is 6'2"

Interesting figures.

  1. Two years ago, Kantro went strongly sub-slot with some of the Day 2 picks.  (Riley Martin, Peter Matt  $1K and $5K.  Five guys picks 5-10 signed for $79 to $262K below slot.)
  2. Last year, Nick Hull only serious Day2 sub-slot ($25K).  Day 3, only two guys below $125, and the lowest at $50K.
  3. So Kalmer $50, that' matches last year's lowest Day3 deal.
  4. Interesting that JC 10th rounder took significant sub-slot.  His scouting sounded pretty favorable, so it wouldn't have shocked had he been full slot or variably over slot.  But no.
  5. I'm curious where the overslot money is going.  Quick round-number, between 5% and the three subslot deals, that would be ~$550.  Subtract $150 for Melendez, but that would still allow $400.  That's without adding more sub-slot dollars for Wiggins and Rivera.
  6. Wouldn't you assume Wiggins and Rivera should both sub-slot, and free up even more?
  7. So, if they have $400 to maybe $600-700, what's it for?
  8. Some for Hope.  But is he THAT good that it's ALL for him?
  9. Is college Singer going to actually get super-slotted?  That would really be interesting.
  10. Past two years, Kantro would only save ~$75K for Day3 overslots, and he'd only sign one per year.  Obviously Hope will get more than that, but is it possible Kantro wants to sign more than one Day3 overslot?

Maybe some of that goes to Bowser?

From the tweet included in the nsbb draft profile:

“His mother is a very successful TV writer.”

the new market inefficiency is drafting players from affluent backgrounds whose parents’ means of income has recently dried up.

Bowser is a guy I had pegged to go back to school to play his way into a Day 2 slot as a below slot senior signability guy with some upside. I'm impressed they signed him.

He was a Day 2 talent this year. BA ranked him 231, ESPN 217.

Same. Didn’t think they could get that one done. Great news.

Ethan Flanagan signed. Source: His Instagram.

Pleasantly surprised to get Flanagan in.  As a draft eligible sophomore, I figured he'd have enough leverage and the Cubs wouldn't have the overage to get him in.

^^ From PSD!?!?! I remember the 1908 there was a good poster. I see you have 32 posts already but welcome anyway

It is!  Thanks for the comment!  PSD randomly is shutting down come the 24th; I've posted back in here a few times, years ago, I believe. With the immanent death of PSD, expect a handful of the crowd to migrate over here (I may or may not have recommended it on it's way out...it's against site rules to post forums, but what are they going to do...ban me?)

I guess this is my new home!  Glad to be here.

Wow I didn't know that. I guess message boards are just fading away now. The Rotoworld forums were just shut down a week or so ago as well.

Won't speculate too much, but worth checking out the picture of Flanagan that he posted. Unfortunately might explain lost leverage.

Yeah, that makes sense.  He's got a laundry list of injuries previously, so seeing another is about the least shocking thing.  The Cubs have drafted at least one prospect the last 2 drafts who needed TJS immediately, so this is also a gamble they're seemingly fine with.  Hey, for a 17th rounder?  Sign me up.

Is it just me or does Carico kind of look a little like Andy Samberg when he smiles super wide...
