33-114. So they’d have to go 10-5 to avoid 120 losses, 9-6 to avoid 121 losses and 7-8 to avoid winning less than 40 games. The only positive is they play the A’s 3 times and Angels 6 times.

EDIT: After the game on July 5, they were 26-64 which means they’re 7-50 since then.

The White Sox have lost 15 straight home games and are 1-27 in their last 28 home games dating back to early July.

Their only home win since July 10th was on August 12th, a 12-2 win over the Yankees (right after the Cubs swept them)

They're streaking. Suddenly Benintendi is hitting like Soto.

They did lose last night but yeah, they're making their 2003 Tigers like run.  Just need to go 7-3 to avoid infamy

They need the Tigers to fall out of the race by the last series. Otherwise, that will be tough to do with SD and Det still on the schedule.

Even the White Sox are trolling themselves.

Fun fact. Between June 26th and September 17th, the White Sox won three games in a row twice. Between April 26th and July 7th, the Cubs won three in a row 0 times.

White Sox were down 2-0 going into the ninth and hit a 2-out 2-strike home run to tie it. The Padres had 1st and 2nd no out and 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the bottom half but didn't score. Unfortunately, the White Sox didn't score in the 10th and it took the Padres 2 pitches to walk it off.

36-118.

Also, Ohtani is at 52-52 now.

I was actually watching that, really entertaining game.  When the Pads had 1st and 3rd and 1 out bottom of the 9th the hitter was Arraez so I figured it was over but he lined it right to the 1B who stepped on 1st for the double play.

Shame they lost that one, I like the fight they've shown but its going to be for naught. Have to go  7-1 or better now to avoid tying the modern record for most losses and 6-2 or better to avoid breaking the record.

I'm very agnostic about the Sox but wouldn't have minded if they got hot and avoided the record.

I don't much care about the Sox themselves, but I know some White Sox fans whose misery I quite enjoy.

I don't care about the Sox much either now that Hawk is gone. I think I figure as long as you're going to be ridiculously bad, you might as well be historically bad and set records. I don't think I'd be following any less if it was any other team going for the record instead.

The WS have a piss-poor owner, an annoying and not very good fan base, and have historically been one of, if not the worst franchise in MLB history. I think it would be fitting for them to have the historically worse season in the history of the modern area. And since they plan on cutting payroll after the season, why not double down on the losses next year.

The White Sox are 36-119 with 7 games to go.

To avoid tying the most losses in a season in the modern era they must go 7-0

To avoid holding the record by themselves they must go 6-1

To avoid having the worst winning% in the modern era, .235, they must go 3-4

The White Sox currently sit at a -318 run differential which would be the 12th worst in the modern era. The Detroit Tigers have 3 seasons with worse run differentials.  1996(-320), 2019(-333) and 2003(-337). The 1932 Red Sox hold the run differential record at -345.

If the White Sox go:

6-0 they'll end up with the 6th worst winning percentage ever
5-1 it's the 5th worst
4-2 or 3-3 it's the 2nd worst
2-4 or worse it's the worst winning percentage ever

I don’t know why wouldn’t root for them to lose out. It’s so much more fun! I have no animosity towards the white sox but if the cubs were in the same position I’d absolutely be rooting for history. It’s almost impossible to be this bad (with players trying to win.) achieve glory! Achieve history! Better to be remembered as historically awful rather than nearly historically awful.

The Athletic did an article on the White Sox and lets just say, wow it's a terribly run organization.

From what I've read, their investment into scouting/analytics is a decade plus behind just about everyone. Combine that with an owner whose largest contract ever given was $75M to Andrew Benintendi. They are the only team to never given out a $100+M contract. 2nd lowest is the Pirates $100M. The third lowest is the Cardinals $130M. So the third lowest team, has given out a contract nearly double the size of the largest the White Sox have ever given out.
