Hard to run a two minute passing drill when your receivers get knocked down on their routes with no call. Not to mention running for your life immediately after the snap.

With a doubt, had it been the Lions on offense that call is made.

thats such a weird thing to think about...the Lions being the darlings of the NFL refs?

Not so much the Lions, could be any team on offense that gets that call 10 out of 10 against the Bears. There's no conspiracy, etc. just bad luck, and a slew of questionable calls be made against the Bears.

The officiating woes are especially weird since these last two games were at Soldier Field. That's typically what HFA is is a thumb on the refereee scale

I thought Fields was a little too run happy in the first half, but obviously another great game from him. Even the pick I'm not too worried about given that it was more from Justin trying to play hero ball rather than being fooled or making a bad read or whatever. It's still a problem but one I'm not nearly as worried whether they can fix.

The refs being this bad is ok for this year but somebody needs to talk to the NFL because this cannot be tolerated next year. They cannot cost the Bears games that matter.

I’m convinced there is some conspiracy where Poles has asked the NFL to help them tank (I’m kidding). Last 2 games were both wins without egregious officiating. Imagine being 5-5 with Fields playing like he has?

It's annoying to keep finding ways to lose games, but whatever.

Offensive line is still butt. I would love to bring in three new starters for it in the offseason. I am really tired of hearing how ok braxton jones is when he really isn't.

This is still the most fun i've had watching the Bears since 2006. This team could be dominant as soon as next season.

It’s not fun watching these losses. Yeah it’s fun thinking of the possibilities but losing sucks period.

I've been saying it for years and I 100% meant it, and now that I'm getting it I'm not sorry:

I would rather lose with an elite offense than slog through another 11-win, championship-defense, "if only we had a QB" season.

i wasn't able to check the score until after the game, but my initial reaction was excitement over fields. the loss felt secondary. maybe it would have been different if i watched it play out.

People I do not like as football players:

Braxton Jones. I just don't get it. All I ever hear from Bears fans is how he's adequate and isn't it amazing that a fifth-round pick is playing this adequately at starting tackle. And I just have no idea what they're seeing. I'm seeing a guy who gets beat routinely, gives up at least one crushing sack every single game, and who would be giving up even more if he didn't have Fields' scrambling to bail him out. On a real team he'd be fighting for a roster spot to try to scrape out a few years as a swing tackle. He's being gifted a starting job for a season because we don't care, not because he's a real prospect.

All of our WR3+ options. With the addition of Claypool, we have two WR2s and everyone else is a WR5 or worse.

Jack Sanborn. I'm glad he had some impact plays today. I think it's cool that he's living the dream and worked his butt off to get his brief time in the sun. But as soon as next year we're going to be trying to win playoff games, and if he's on the field against a good QB in the playoffs he's going to get absolutely torched on every third down play. I hate when people can't tell the difference between a good story and an actually good player.

Honorable mention: Kyler Gordon. He's doing ok-ish for a rookie corner, and no corner is going to perform well in front of this pass rush, but he is flying under the radar a bit in terms of being bad at his job and not getting noticed.

Well, you are presenting two crappy options as if there aren’t any others.

I think we all know where we want this team to go. I can’t sit here and say a day like today was enjoyable in and of itself. I’m definitely hopeful for what may come.

Definitely would have IMO. This one goes on the list of inexplicable Bears losses. Without veering into Sulley territory, the Bears list has to be longer than any other team.

It was a really frustrating way to lose, coming into the 4th with a 24-10 lead, seeing an INT overturned by iffy call and then immediately a TD, then a Fields pick 6 followed by heroic 67 yard run only to miss the XP. Than all the iffy penalties. As I’ve been saying I want them to win but don’t care if they lose. That is still true. A loss is good to some degree but when you are watching the game and know that it took like 10 things all going Detroit’s way for them to win the game it’s super frustrating.

jones sucks

wr3 sucks (and Claypool needs to catch up fast or he sucks)

Sanborn. dude is undersized, is a crappy Rudy story, but comon he's basically outside of the DBs the only thing on D right now

Gordon blows

Yeah re: Claypool I was a little surprised that he was used less today than last week. I’d have to check the snap count but it seemed like a lot of the time when he came into the game it was for a play to him. Figured with 1.5 weeks he’d be able to learn a couple dozen plays and could have been out there more often than not even on plays where he isn’t the main read. I could be completely wrong though.

There's no reason for him not to be out there the majority of the time.

I mean, it's hard to be happy with Claypool right now but the Ds play has to be worse. They are an absolute sieve. They need a pass rush so horsefeathering bad. And linebackers. And probably a corner at minimum

Just for fun, if you took Fields season stats (rushing and passing) and projected them over a 17 game season you’d get:

3,805 yards, 31 TDs, 12 INT

Considering how slow he started the season that’s some good horsefeathers from QB1

I’m so sick of pro tank simps that love losing

I don't like losing. The higher draft pick positioning is just how I talk myself into not being as upset when horsefeathers like today happens.

Was Jaylon Johnson playing hurt in that game? He got beat consistently yesterday. I thought I saw him leave the game early at one point and came back. I'm assuming that if he was back, he wasn't anywhere close to 100%.
