This is going to be interesting

Notable updates to the CFP guidelines include:

-If a Playoff semifinalist is unable to play, the unavailable team would forfeit the game and its opponent would advance to the national championship game. The game date will not be changed.

-If both semifinalists are unable to play in either the Orange or Cotton Bowl, that semifinal would be declared "no contest." The game date will not be changed. The other semifinal winner would be declared the national champion.

If three semifinalists are unable to play, the semifinal with two unavailable teams would be declared "no contest." The unavailable team in the other semifinal would forfeit its game and its opponent would be declared the national champion. No game dates will be changed.

-If a finalist's unavailability is determined after the semifinals are played, the national championship game may be rescheduled for no later than Friday, Jan. 14.

-If a finalist is unable to play on the rescheduled date, that team will forfeit and its opponent will be declared national champion. If both teams are unable to play on the rescheduled date, the game will be declared "no contest" and the national championship will be vacated for this season.

-Teams will have the option to arrive at their bowl location a minimum of two days before their game, rather than the usual five.

All media access to coaches, staff and players will be virtual and non-essential staff will not have sideline access pre- or post-game at any CFP game.

Georgia is already having COVID problems, not sure about the other 3, but I saw that Michigan and Alabama are having their entire teams boosted this week. We could see a team win a title by default. A COVID aided Natty would sure look nice next to Michigan's half-natty in 97. Michigan fans are happy and Michigan haters can still say they haven't won an outright title since the 40s.

To be clear I'm not rooting for that outcome, that would really suck.

To be fair, Michigan is already well familiar with winning championships without playing all the games.

I could respond with a solid comeback but I'll tread lightly due to the number of Illini fans I respect here  Take your heart

I mean, that one was on a tee. It would have been a crime had no one brought it up.

Living close to Champaign, I am shocked how many people are still really upset by this. I tell them to print up tshirts that say you are B1G champs. Really no one gives a hoot about regular season champions except Green Bay Packer fans

Why would Green Bay fans care about them more than other than bases? It's more likely to be fans of teams that rarely win that care about them. I didn't even realize the Packers won the division last weekend until I saw the players wearing the hats and shirts in their press conferences.

No Mustache Man confirmation yet, but UCLA has dropped out of tonight's Holiday Bowl, so that makes 5 canceled bowls.

NC State is still trying to play a delayed version of the bowl game, trying to find an opponent

Apparently most likely scenario would be if one of LSU (no coach, NFL prospects, COVID issues) backs out of the 1/4 game against Kansas St. Or I guess if KSU had to cancel for whatever reason.

UCLA didn’t even notify NCSU there were any concerns. They all found out via Twitter about 4 hours from kickoff while in the stadium. Well I guess at the park, not stadium. Would have been cool seeing Petco host a football game with that backdrop.

The refs in the Tennessee game should be put in jail. What a screw job to Tennessee on that touchdown no call.

Tennessee deserved to lose with the horsefeathers play calling to end regulation and in OT. Also, that call at the end wasn’t a bad call. His forward progress was stopped.

Michigan State loses control of a game they were dominating.

If they lose to Pitt's #3 QB, that will be quite something

People can argue that they should've let them play longer due to the situation, but frankly he was being held up at the 2 and was stopped. Pretending that this was somehow a terrible call is horseshit, it wasn't even a wrong call.

Also, the whole "whistle came after" idiocy completely ignores how the rules work. It's the same as when they say there was a strip but called as no fumble because of forward progress being stopped.

It’s been comedy watching them try to complete passes but they have a legit shot to redeem themselves here.

Disagree x2, other than yes Tenn did some dumb stuff with clock management and play calling. They let guys fight all the time for extra yards, especially around the goal line and he was pushing forward most of the time and never down. Hell a Tenn RB, earlier in the game, had a run around midfield where he was effectively stopped but was allowed to fight for ~3 more yards. And the whistle rule is just completely stupid, even if it was technically right by the rule book.

Purdue also should’ve gotten flagged for delay of game at some point on defense with dudes faking/hyping injuries to slow down the pace/flow they couldn’t keep up with.

Damn it’s hard to watch Jake Ferguson down with a knee in his final game as a Badger. Probably could have opted out and he’s got real draft potential. Hope it isn’t serious.
