Matt Nagy is definitely going to get Fields killed in these last 6 games.

See! Look I played him and now he’s dead. Should have let me start Dalton

A competition of coaching ineptitude in which, unfortunately, for Detroit Lion fans, Dan Campbell won. Although, Nagy gave it the old college try - that timeout prior to Campbell using his last timeout - why?

Because you can never overthink a situation?

I think it's possible that McCaskey threatens to fire him if he lost to Detroit. I think it's also possible Nagy begged for forgiveness and was granted it, and was lucky to only have to play the Lions and won. But horsefeathers Patchy dude. Even if he did have the one organizational leak (out of hundreds of reporters in the Chicago metroplex) to get the story, he clearly underestimated the situation

Whatever

I think that’s not what happened. Occam’s razor: the Bears are inept and the reporter got bad information from a high placed source.

Yea I think what's interesting is the possibility that the source was high enough to seem unimpeachable as a source, but who has ulterior motive in leaking information.

You mean like, Matt Nagy himself?

No, not Nagy. I don't have a specific person in mind really.

The McCaskey' ability to get things wrong almost all the time makes this plausible. Which is really pathetic, its overwhelmingly obvious Nagy has no idea how to put players, specifically, QB's in positions to succeed. Obvious to all except the McCaskey's, that's why, until it actually occurs I'm not convinced Nagy is gone.

Speaking of coaching I've an irrational hatred for Mac Jones, he's average as average can be, there's nothing special in any of his abilities yet, he's looking really good because of a coaching staff recognizing his strengths and catering to them. Would be really nice to if Justin Fields had such a coaching staff.

Actually yes, Mac Jones is an excellent example of why Nagy should be fired immediately.

Or re-fired

Or his firing confirmed

Or whatever

I know I"m an old man yelling at clouds, but this is *exactly* why journalists need to go back to the old rules of not publishing until you have two independent sources confirming the information, and only using anonymous sources in serious emergencies at the highest level of public interest.

The job used to be getting the source to go on the record. That way if your source fed you bad info, it's the source's credibility that gets hit, not yours. This guy's credibility as a journalist is torched now. And for what, a few minutes on sports radio and a few extra clicks to his patch site? Was it worth it?

I mean I know this guy called it a report but can we really even call it reporting? I’m definitely not defending him but I was surprised at how much Chicago media picked up on a report from Patch.com based on an anonymous source. I listened to the score interview he did that morning and the guy had no insight, no other details he could give just that an anonymous source at Halas Hall told him.

I know he’s a journalist but he’s not a Bears guy and he said up front that he’s just reporting what one source told him. It should have been treated like a rumor not a true report. I think people wanted it to be true so badly they jumped all over it.

How about Sean Payton as head coach? That’s the best candidate I’ve heard so far.

Some Bears site floated Payton or Tomlin as candidates to replace Nagy. The guy is full of it but this is how things turn into rumors.

Yeah, it's the old "maybe he needs a change of scenery" idea. Both have been with their teams a long while and only have 1 ring despite being mostly contenders for years (never a losing season in Tomlin's case). But they both also have cushy jobs. Steeler fans call for Tomlin's head quite a bit, but he ain't going anywhere unless he wants to. They simply don't fire coaches. Saints fans would probably never call for Payton's job, and he has a FO that he has worked with for ages. Again, not going anywhere unless he thinks it's time. That site (believe it was SportsMockery) is just trying to push those longshot chances into reality.
