This is a Phoenix radio guy, does AZ having anything we (or the Rockies) would want

They have two fun young major league starters: Zac Gallen and Luke Weaver. They've also got a fantastic farm, but nothing super close to the majors, so one of those two would have to be the headliner I'd think.

I love Zac Gallen and was surprised how quickly Miami dealt him away. That said, not sure he screams "headliner" in a trade for our superstar third baseman.

That pitcher either wouldn’t have arms or would be unfathomably bad

Taylor Widener was pretty terrible last year and is pretty far down their depth chart. Nick Pivetta had like a 6+ ERA in the majors

I would pay for Almora’s plane ticket and moving expenses myself if we could get Pivetta for him. I don’t see that happening, Almora has to have quite literally no value. You aren’t getting horsefeathers for him. Especially with Pillar, Dyson, Jay, Maybin, Lagarese, etc all still FA.

Yeah I tend to agree. I think the Dbacks are similar to the Braves, where they certainly have the ability to provide fair value for Bryant, but they don't have a "THE GUY" who I would be happy with headlining a deal.

We need to come up with an acronym or something to just make it clear that you believe the idea of trading Kris Bryant is dumb, motivated by bad and selfish decisions, and should not happen. Against Trading Kris Bryant. ATKB.

I quite like the Diamondbacks system, actually, but more from a upside/depth perspective. Considering the shambles it was in, Hazen and Co. have done a fantastic job.

All that said, I don't see them trading away Gallen, and the problem with that system is that there is a lack of upper level quality, prospects to build a trade around. There's a lot of depth there, and there's loads of upside, so if they managed to swing a move for a different asset to headline a deal, then I'd be more excited. Even then, if they were willing to offer, say, 4 of their guys for Bryant, you'd at least have to ponder it. The problem is, their best arm is arguably out for the year. A package of say, Duplantier/Kelly/Robinson/Perdomo would be fascinating, but likely too risky.

I'm a bit surprised there's been little on the Rangers and Bryant, considering they are supposedly on the fringes of Arenado. That'd be a team that Id have some fascination with, although like the Diamondbacks, the lack of upper level quality talent makes it tough to see a deal.

What is Carter Kieboom's ceiling?

Kiley McDaniel: realistically, annually like 2.5 to 3.5 WAR. I could see a peak season between 4 and 5.

Mmmm....could have all of that for just an aging Kris Bryant with some luck

Having a hard time squaring that with the 60 FV they put on him a month ago, which when they finish all the lists looks like it'll be around Top 20 overall.

That's why ceiling questions are always dumb. Everyone's ceiling is becoming the GOAT and everyone's floor is dying in the next three seconds.

Just give me the projection.

Yeah, Marcus Semien and Ketel Marte combined for nearly 15 WAR last year, it's hard for me to take declarations of ceiling too strongly anymore. Ceilings IMO are limited based on defensive value and power potential. Shifting has IMO reduced the spread between players within positions, and the juiced ball has democratized power. We're talking about a SS with above average raw power, it doesn't take a lot to get such a guy to 4+ WAR, just look at Paul Dejong.

This. Give me percentiles or confidence intervals, or you are just waving your arms around like a lunatic.
