Mets signed a couple former Cubs in Arismendy Alcantara and Casey Coleman. They also signed Zach Lee, once a pretty high profile athlete.

Lee was an incredible athlete coming out of HS. Maybe he still has a chance.

Giants signed Rene Rivera to minor league contract. I guess we can't even afford minor league deals anymore.

Guessing he’s essentially guaranteed a spot if he doesn’t get hurt or has a disaster ST with Posey starting the year hurt. But yeah, idk why the hell we didn’t do this and give him a guaranteed deal. Hopefully we still get Maldonado.

Nick Hundley signed a minor league deal with Oakland and AJ Ellis took a front office job with the Padres. Going in to the season with Vic as the primary backup catcher makes me so irrationally angry.

Meh...The Cubs have had enough Hundleys catch for them over the years.

bought out all 3 arb years, 1 FA and option for a 2nd FA year

'19 - arb year 1 (was headed to hearing)

'20 - arb year 2

'21 - arb year 3

'22 - would have been FA

'23 - is 16 mill club option / 4.25 buy out

How could be have possibly made less money by not signing this deal?

Even if he got hurt.

Time to strike on a Hendricks extension?

The number of very good pitchers who hit arbitration and don't end up making 40+ million is...substantial. Pitching is fleeting, take the money.

Organize, strike, stop negotiating away your bargaining power for your good years

So if Nola is the benchmark, what's a Hendricks extension look like?

$3M signing bonus, $9M in '20, $12 M in '21, $12 M in '22, $15M option in '23 with a $4M buyout?

He's a free agent in '21, so how would you propose convincing him to take $12m in both 21 and 22 and lock into a 15m option in '23?
