You can't get a whole lot of pressure when the ball is out in 2 seconds. The Bears showed very little ability to tackle today on those horsefeathering annoying ass screens.

God I hate Gase's dumb offense.

The short passes were Green Bay’s method of beating the Bears week one. Other than tackling better, can the Bears do anything to adapt?

We’ll find out, that’s for sure.

Two of the biggest knowns going into this game was Miami couldn't stop the run and Osweiler is one of the worst QB's in NFL history against the blitz. The few times the Bears ran a blitz, Osweiler panicked and threw the ball away.

The entire game, Miami focused on dumping the ball over the middle behind the line and the Bears never addressed it with zones, and even though blitzes were working, they didn't rush Osweiler enough to create more turnovers.

Offensively, Howard was once again a non factor. Nagy refuses to let Howard be of any value to this offense. For a guy to work all offseason on his pass catching and then not get any balls tossed his way has to be very frustrating. And to also be an assumed main focus on offense running the ball up the middle and not even be in the lineup half the time on typical running play calls is going to create even more controversy in the locker room. Might as well trade him for something if you just aren't going to use him, even against one of the worst defenses against the run in the entire league.

I guess I also forgot to mention there wasn't a single holding call on the Miami offensive line in a game where I saw a lot of holding taking place. One was so blatantly obvious that I was 100% certain the play was going to be called back. Nope.

Obviously Mack was pretty freaking hobbled. Might be one of those injuries where he is able to play through it that day but can't play next week.

Bears should have won regardless but, I did find a missed blatant holding call quite funny, think it was one of the LB's. He was going to nail Gore for a loss but, couldn't get to the spot because the Miami blocker was holding his anke!

Was it that play where the lineman held Mack for like 5 seconds and then threw him to the ground right as Osweiler found someone for a long gain.

I know it's hard to think about when the loss was so frustrating, but Mitchell Trubisky is becoming really good at football.

Other than the whole missing wide open receivers thing

How many times did this actually happen? Honest question, I missed the first half. Didn't see him miss in the 2nd. He completed 70% again.

There was a really bad one on one of the first two drives where Anthony Miller had no one within 10 yards of him on third down and Trubisky way overthrew him.

Generally though, I think yesterday is the type of game you expect from a good young QB. There were three "what the horsefeathers" plays I remember: the aforementioned throw to Miller, the red zone pick, and that across his body nonsense throw to Cohen. All three were bad, and he needs to cut those out. But all young QBs are going to make bad plays. What's important is A) there is a good ratio of good plays to bad and B) The trendline of bad plays is pointing down. I felt positively in both respects from Mitch yesterday.

From my seats I saw an egregious missed TD early. And then a few others that missed guys who could have been caught. It's been a trend all year. He had some nice throws but he also has a ton of behind the line completions. Plus another off the back foot toss that would have been a pick 6 if the DB didn't slip.

I believe the offense lost that game in the first half. The defense had to work too hard early to keep it close and in that heat they were going to wear down. You can't have a scoreless half coming off the bye.

The dudes holding sun shades on the bench can only do something much.

Gotcha. I'm not sure that Trubisky's bad throws are worse or more frequent than the majority of other QBs though. Definitely similar to guys of a similar age/experience level. So, I'm not going to be too hard on him for that. Especially seems like an odd takeaway in a game he threw the go-ahead TD with 3 minutes left, and was 4-4 on potential game winning drives after that (1 in Regulation, 1 in OT).

Just seems like the Bears caught a bunch of bad breaks. It was 105 degrees. There was a horrible OPI call. There was a lucky bounce on an OT reception, which featured a blatant missed holding call. There was the :00 playclock on the long Gore run in OT. If only 1 of those things doesn't happen, they probably win the game.

He’s going to miss some passes. If the expectation is that he needs to be perfect, you are going to be disappointed. We’ll all expected some growing pains and he’s clearly made big strides from the first 3 games of the season. He made several elite passes on Sunday - specifically both deep passes to Gabriel. His pass to Cohen hit him perfectly in stride over he middle and allowed Cohen to rip off a huge gain. He drove the team down the field and threw a TD to give them a lead with 3 minutes left to play.

It’s frankly a bizarre take to blame this game of the first half offense when the defense missed 19 tackles, allowed a complete stiff to throw for 380 yards, and let a 35 year old running back run for 100+ yards. All the D needed to do was to keep a shitty offense from marching 75 yards down the field in 3 minutes for a TD and they gave up a 75 yard TD on the first play of the Dolphins possession.

They lost in OT. It's perfectly fair to say that any one of about 20 things lost them the game. Not scoring in the first half is definitely one of those 20.

He had a wide open WR open for an easy touchdown and missed by a mile. It was an awful throw that missed a huge opportunity early in the game. Those are not the throws he's allowed to miss.

"All the D needed to do" was all of that after playing a full game in 100 degree heat with full sun beating down on them. If the defense has to fight to keep you in the game in the first half as the offense does nothing, they are going to be worn out late. The offense blew that game early. You can't come off the bye and get shutout for the half. That's brutal.

I get that but the offense scored 28 points against a solid defense. What half they scored them in is kinda irrelevant. The offense stepped up when they needed to and put the team in a great position to win the game. The defense blew it. The defense allowed and bottom tier NFL QB to completely shred them. If I’m assigning blame, they are getting the lion’s share, imo.

Then you completely ignore the conditions under which they were playing. Miami designed the stadium so the road team will get beat down by the sun all game while they are in the shade. Visitors know this. You can't horsefeathers the bed in the first half on offense and expect the defense to hold up the entire time. You have to score in the first half.

Agree. He has to make that throw - but he's realistically going to miss some. There is a development curve here.

The offense and the defense played under the same conditions. The D had to make a handful of plays to ice the game and they got run over. Mitch has to make every throw but the defense doesn't need to make any tackles because it was hot outside.

That, and Howard is fine if he fumbles on the goalline?

Mitch didn’t lose that game. Hes the one position player that is steadily improving. Name another?

Mitch is part of the reason they didn't win.

Howard is part of the reason they didn't win.

Cohen is part of the reason they didn't win. (his fumble)

Parkey is part of the reason they didn't win.

The ref is part of the reason they didn't win. (stupid PI call)

Nagy is part of the reason they didn't win.

The shitty tackling is part of the reason they didn't win.

You could say that each of those deserves some percentage of the blame for the loss. You could also make the claim that any single one of those is THE reason they lost. What isn't right is to say that any of those guys are blameless.
