I know we're all sad because Losses Must Be Blamed On Things.

They got a few awful calls and a few bad bounces against a very good team on the road. It happens.

this is a very unusual post for you. i'm a casual, but i thought the bears were supposed to be past this "it happens" stuff. they lost a a game that they had won a million times. everyone should be blamed.

Nobody has been past the It Happens since the 1972 Dolphins.

Fumble on 1 and Trubisky int in the end zone was costly but this loss is on Nagy.

He made some dumb decisions, but Nagy’s decisions were third on my list of dumbest things Bears did

Who the hell settles for a 53 yarder?

Wasn’t it going to be a 55 or 56 yarder before 3rd down? Howard was running well that drive and if they don’t complete the pass they are really outside Parkey’s range. My guess is that Nagy thought he could get 5-10 yards running and that was less risky than a throw.

Nah the 3rd down play was no gain. I don’t necessarily have a problem with running but the run was a very conservative run right up the gut designed to likely pick up 1-2 extra yards which to me is a play you run if you feel you are already in highly probable FG range. Defense looked like it had 8 in the box and had no problems stuffing it. Wish they could have had at least feigned something other than a run between the tackles.

The Bears were in FG range but you should never feel comfortable settling for a kick outside of 50 yards. It’s the same horsefeathers trestman pulled against the Vikings and of course it burned us both times. A 50+ yard FG in that situation is something that you only consider once it’s 4th down. Before that you should be trying to get 1st downs until you are in comfortable FG range

You trust your QB to make a play. Settling for a 50 to 53 yarder is way too conservative. Plus a miss puts Miami in good field position.

I’d much rather he miss after throwing an incompletion than after choosing to run 3 times deciding we are close enough if we don’t get it.

Mitch is not a good qb

He was the terrible QB we saw for most of the first 3 games in the 1st half, was definitely better in the 2nd half, wasn't quite so terrible.

Sucks to look at that drive chart

Fumble at the 1

TD

TD

TD

Int in the end zone after being at the 3 and TD overturned

TD

Fumble at Chi 45 with a chance to win it

Missed FG

Mistakes on Offense. Could’ve rolled them. D giving up scores late and settling for a long fg after Miami not forcing a punt in the 2nd half. Just sucks.

Huh? He had a couple of bad throws/decisions but ended with a 122 passer rating. Hes hardly the reason the Bears lost.

I don’t think he was bad but Nagy still didn’t trust him to make plays with the game on the line

He trusted him to make plays with the game on the line *repeatedly*. And he came through.

Yeah it was a bummer that the drive that ended with nullified TD followed by pick in the end zone really ended up being his last shot. Cohen fumbled right away on the next drive and then Nagy passed on taking a shot to drive with one timeout and a minute left. Then he only got to throw one pass in OT.

Hopefully that sticks in Trubisky’s craw sufficiently that he doesn’t take those kinds of unnecessary risks in the future. He was playing great the second half until that point. 28 points plus a nullified TD in a half on the road against a defense that was playing pretty well. Lots of good deep throws. Some that were right on the money to covered guys but also some throws that led guys into yards after catch.

I don’t know how Nagy got from his normal aggressiveness of going for it on fourth and throwing deep consistently to not passing on 3rd and 4 when not making it means a Cody Parkey 50+ yarder. Or if you don’t trust Mitch to drop back at least running some tricky jet sweep or option or something. Howard up the middle worked for a few plays but this was coming out of a timeout and the box was stacked. Hopefully in Nagy trusts Mitch with those situations in the near future and hopefully he delivers.

Edit: I watched the highlights again and I had it all wrong here. He threw the pick in the end zone at 21-13. Then got another chance at 21-21 and drove down for the Miller TD. Then came the Cohen fumble and the rest. So he threw the costly pick at the beginning of the fourth and then drove for a TD and didn’t really get another chance to throw again.

Slightly better than the way I remembered it, but the pick and the jump ball to Cohen were both bad decisions late.

Still trying to wrap my mind around the defensive performance today...

It kind of felt like the second half of that Packers game ba lot of short drops and quick releases. Mack was invisible possibly because of injury. Plus they were able to get yards on the ground which opens everything up when the bears can’t get pressure

What happened to the Bears defense today? Hot and humid conditions wore them down? Not prepared coming off the bye? Looking forward to the Patriots and took the Dolphins for granted? Mack not being 100%

Half poor conditioning, half Mack hurt his ankle and was completely ineffective afterwards. Without Mack's pressure, the rest of the D falls apart fast.

You can't get a whole lot of pressure when the ball is out in 2 seconds. The Bears showed very little ability to tackle today on those horsefeathering annoying ass screens.

God I hate Gase's dumb offense.

The short passes were Green Bay’s method of beating the Bears week one. Other than tackling better, can the Bears do anything to adapt?
