  1. So cool the Cardinals can dangle their competitive balance picks they get every year for some reason
  2. We all know Mitch is nowhere near where he should be but...Nagy is god awful. Nagys gotta go (at least first before Tru-biz). Yeah, no chance. Nagy will be here longer than Bisky
  3. horsefeathers, I just remembered how the MLB owners got Kimbrel to take that deal and back to booooooooooooooooooooooooo Kimbrel had the absolute worst season for a Cubs reliever in recent memory
  4. So the culture of the last five years is gone, replaced by a 5 game stretch? This is miserable/morbidly entertaining, but get the horsefeathers out of here with this big picture meatball stuff. They blew a big division lead last year and blamed the schedule. Meanwhile the Brewers just rattled off 15 of 18 with no off days and no Yelich
  5. I mean, he's not wrong. I fear they're gonna hire David Ross and make minimal changes and call it an offseason.
  6. The 2004 team was better than this team but this collapse is impressive. 5 straight losses at Wrigley, where they rarely lose, by 2 runs or less
  7. Playcalling should get more boring. Use Montgomery more and get Mike Davis away. lolwut I'd run the offense around Montgomery as long as he's doing good things. And you can throw Cohen out there too.
  8. Playcalling should get more boring. Use Montgomery more and get Mike Davis away.
  9. I don’t know what’s so hard to get. You can think both the Cubs aren’t very good, annoying and underachievers while also thinking the Cardinals aren’t very good, worse than then Cubs and overachieving the last ~month. After yesterday and today though the math is getting hard to win the division, it’s still possible but not probable and just because the Cardinals likely go on to win the division doesn’t mean my stance is necessarily wrong. you're a cool dude, but essentially saying that the cardinals aren't a good team because their wins came in bunches is silly. nobody is saying they're great, but they're clearly good. Cardinals aren't good IMO. They're just the best team in a bad division. They'll get pummeled by Atlanta or LA depending on who they play. So will the Cubs.
  10. How was this Maddon's fault? Pulling Hendricks was genius, they had to score there or they don't score at all. What's he gonna do with the bullpen? Literally anyone he puts out there is gonna blow it.
  11. Dammit they will probably call up Russell as a reaction to this disaster now. I mean, there's a good shot they win this game even if Russell was a defensive replacement
  12. Russell has been more productive than Kyle Schwarber this year in 244 less at-bats
  13. It shouldn't have anything with politics, but the most vocal people about Russell are also the most vocal people about Trump. So if you disagree with them on Russell or any other topic it automatically makes you a fan of Trump. I find it ironic the people who claim to be so woke tend to be the most judgemental and hateful people. I mean, yeah. It's mostly grandstanding from people that have lost their minds since Trump was elected and think they're on the right side of everything and nobody else is allowed to have a different opinion on things. And this is coming from someone who supported Clinton and will never vote Republican as long as I live. Starlin Castro didn't illicit the same reaction when he was accused of rape in 2012. All I know is the Cubs (Theo, who is a Democrat supporter) would not bring Russell back if they didn't think it was the right thing to do. They consulted with multiple DV experts who agreed that the best course of action for Russell and Melisa was for him to get a 2nd chance with the team and try to rehabilitate his life. Again, nobody is claiming you have to cheer for the guy but this is a country of 2nd chances and if he does the work to turn his life around and doesn't f*** up again, why shouldn't he get a 2nd chance?
  14. Yes, the real problem is those politically correct SJW libtards who are way too far to the left on the issue of... being against domestic violence. I like how you think domestic violence is some political thing and there's a line in the sand drawn between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to whether people think domestic violence is good or bad.
  15. I don't know what Russell has to do with politics anyways. First off, some people can separate personal life from sports. I'm not going to cheer for the guy or buy his jersey but I'd like to see him turn his life around and if he's doing that and he's giving you the best chance to win, he should be on the roster. If Russell were to f*** up again, I'd be first in line in calling for him to be cut.
  16. People would rather lose than have Russell on their team because if Russell turns his life around and becomes a productive member of society, it completely ruins their narrative about DV people. Nobody is saying you have to root for the guy. Russell had over an .800 OPS over the last month before he got sent down and is better than Bote, Kemp, and Garcia yet people overreacted to one bad game and freak out every time he strikes out.
  17. I still can't believe David Bote, Albert Almora, and Robel Garcia aren't playing everyday
  18. The bullpen choices still were What's your suggestion? The entire bullpen isn't to be trusted.
  19. I'd be completely fine with the Reds getting Giles because..why?
  20. Russell is a 0.7 fWAR guy in 47 games compared to Schwarber being a 0.3 fWAR in 86 games. That's pretty bad. Russell provides value with the glove still, Schwarber provides no value.
  21. I dont understand giving a horsefeathers about the Brewers right now when the whole division is a series sweep away from first place. Should we really cheer for the Pirates when they could catch up so easily. I just stopped paying attention to the standings altogether. The Cubs just need to win games consistently. That's all I give a horsefeathers about. Unfortunately they are not being consistently disciplined at the plate right now and they deserve to lose a lot with their awful approach. On July 7: I’m predicting Kyle Schwarber will not be on the roster next year. Theo was talking about giving up at-at bats and Schwarber does that at least once a game. Unfortunately, they waited too long on Schwarber and he doesn't have much value at all anymore. Everyone has been focused on Russell, Descalso, Almora but Schwarber has been God awful too outside of a few hot stretches. He's been worse this year than the year he got sent to Iowa.
  22. They weren't headhunting in a 2 run game with the bases loaded, that's dumb
  23. So much for sticking to sports
