I must have actually left for home after the top of the 9th, because I either didn't see the Kipnis AB or completely blacked out from thinking it was gone off the bat.

Aside from all the obvious moments, there are two postseason moments that will forever be burned into my brain.

The first was from the 2015 Wild Card game when Jake got Starling Marte to ground into an inning-ending double play in the sixth inning. Russell blew what could have been a double play in the AB before and the crowd was really getting ramped up. It was my moment of dread. I'm usually pretty level-headed during games, but I let out an involuntary scream of relief when Jake got out of it. Guarantee my neighbors heard it.

The other is watching Bryant score from first on RIzzo's double in Game 7.

As far as using booze to calm nerves during the game -- I was drinking pretty hard during Game 1 of the 2016 NLCS and barely remember Montero's grand slam. I vowed at that point to never have more than one or two during a playoff game. I'd never forgive myself for blacking out and missing a historic moment.

I was trashed by the time Davis ties it. I was numb and still mostly believed. I actually almost fell asleep during the rain delay. I do remember a moment of “I can’t do this. It’s a horsefeathering game. I’ll find out in the morning” but I also realized that if I slept during the cubs winning the World Series I’d pretty much hate everything

Thank god I was a good 60+ pounds into my weight loss at that point, because between the Cubs and the horrible, horrible Election Night right afterwards, I'm about 99% sure one of those events would have killed me.

There's a great fangraphs article about the bottom of the ninth, "the inning that the Cubs stole" or some such. I have to admit I don't recall the Kipnis foul ball. Was probably cowering in the corner at that point though.

Oh my god, I just watched that... and I've seen the game and I've read all the above replies... but I still had to hold my breath. Yikes.

In two innings of terrible pitchers, by far the worst. Middle middle 85 mph spinner.

That aside, it's fun thinking about how there's an Indians board out there somewhere with posters lamenting all the terrible highlights they'll have to sit through the next two days.

I've re-watched all four games the Cubs won from start to finish. Lingering takes from game 7:

- I can't watch the Wild Pitch again, but knowing the ending, the Davis HR makes the whole thing more awesome

- I have a very vivid memory of time moving in slow motion on that Kipnis foul ball. If I had to live the entire off season with that feeling, I'm not sure how much of a stomach I could have for baseball anymore.

- The Fowler HR when he rounds first, and Rizzo's reaction to Zobrist's hit (starting at 4:29:21 in the video above) will probably give me goosebumps for the rest of my life

Does anyone have the YouTube video that is the montage of game moments, fan reaction and celebration clips? I swear I didn’t cry when we won, but I totally lost it when I watched that video a few months later

That really doesn't narrow it down at all

I know, sorry. It was posted here at some point. It’s pretty professional in quality....yeah, that’s all I got

I don't think this is it, but here's 20+ minutes of highlights from the entire playoff run

It's really shameful not to have Kershaw's soul being taken, but whatever.

Yeah, I think it was about 4 or 5 minutes long, and was more about fan reactions outside the stadiums, in the bars, on the streets, mixed with some in-game highlights.

Either way the part that got me was less the baseball plays and more the genuine emotion from the fans

A BIG “thank you” to Raisin for posting the video of Game 7. It’s really made for some interesting banter/recollections from that historic day.

But the more I think about it, an even BIGGER thanks to me. After all, it was me who decided to post a non-game thread start on a day off. Had I not done this, does Raisin even post the video? Are we reminiscing the last 24 hours of he highs and lows? Do we get to relive the agony and the ecstasy? And let’s not even bring up the Kipnis....never mind. Anyway, in a word - Brilliant!

But if we really want to drill down on the matter, we really owe all of this to Sammy Sofa. I mean, this thread absolutely does NOT exist if that guy (don’t know “him” so I’m making an assumption) can figure out a game thread started the day before a game versus threads started on gameday. I mean, it’s a mistake that can happen to anyone, right (even though it’s only happened to him in the dozen or so years I’ve been coming here)?

So hats off to Sammy for inspiring the last day and a half of inspiring Cubs 2016 World Series banter,

I think the bottom of the 9th shaved 1 year off my life.

A gray hair for every hanging slider.

I really don't remember much about that inning except I was just waiting for us to lose. And when Lindor hit that pop up I kind of knew we had just won, though of course I needed to see it actually happen.

All I have to say is that I’m glad I was glumly walking around Wrigleyville after Lindor somehow robbed Fowler of an RBI single and made it look routine. I was too scared to watch a potential Indians walkoff so I followed the Bottom of the 9th based on the sounds of the bars I was walking by. I never saw the Kipnis foul ball in real-time and thus did not shave 2 years off my life expectancy

Something that I think of often is how excited we all were when the pictures started coming out of Bryant and Rizzo playing catch in Spring Training for the first time. Think it’s pretty cool the last out was Bryant to Rizzo.

I’m a total weirdo. I was at the Holiday Club on Irving Park to watch game 7 with some friends. It was a lot of fun up until that 8th and I had feelings of doom based on how poorly Joe managed Chapman that whole series. When it was tied, I gathered my stuff, smoked a cigarette, and left the bar.

I then proceeded to listen to the game on the radio on my phone on the train ride home because I refused to watch them blow the game on tv. I got back to my apartment in time to watch Zobrist give the Cubs the lead.
