Not to go all David here.... but Darvish’s second most recent follow on Twitter is Justin Grimm (and he only follows like 300 people and it’s not like Grimm is some great twitter personality, he hasn’t tweeted since July) and Strop recently started following Darvish..... he also liked the apology from Carl.

Hoyer: Ok great, we have a framework agreement in place, we're just waiting for the medicals to come back.

Theo: Have you called Pedro Strop yet?

Im not taking one side ornthe other, just asking: how much more is Jake gonna get than Darvish? Is Darvish over Jake the right choice?

no idea if he even will

yes

I see Darvish getting more, and he's a better choice for any team.

I"m honestly not even sure Arrieta is getting 100M anymore based on how this market is shaping up. 4/100 is about the most I could see someone shelling out.

I am not sure Jake is going to get more than Darvish but i think Jake has not given signs of coming down from his asking price and Darvish may have. That is why the Cubs are after Darvish now IMO. I think Darvish is the better pitcher going forward so if it were me i sign Darvish.

I still haven't seen any indication that Darvish "may have" reduced his asking price. Darvish is obviously the better pitcher going forward, but if the numbers end up (not that they will) with Darvish @ 6 yrs/$160 mil. and Arrieta @ 4 yrs./$90 mil. it might be a tough decision.

What did the HIPAA-violating tweet say? It's gone now

He claimed that Darvish was signing with the Cubs because his source was the doctor who performed the team physical on him.

Great way to lose a source.

I think the line of thinking is, 1. Cubs were “out” on front line high dollar and years FA pitchers this offseason, 2. Cubs are now “in” on Darvish. Ergo, Darvish’s years or AAV must be down.

That’s not the only reason the Cubs could be in now.

Yeah, they might realize that they still need that TOR starter and the cost in trade assets is too high.

I didn’t say it was a good line of thinking. :)
