Is it a HIPPA violation if he just tells him where he’s signing and doesn’t say/share anything about Yu medically? I mean at best it’s still a morally/ethically stupid thing to do as the doctor and likely will cost him being used in the future by the Cubs, if true.

Reporters / writers can't violate HIPAA. Only a hospitals employees can.

Schefter and ESPN settled with Jason Pierre Paul because it was easier than going to court about it.

It would probably be some sort of violation to say you examined him, but saying he signed can't be.

Now, the bigger question to me is how the Cubs would appreciate their team doctors leaking that they examined Yu and Yu is signing with the team. It's kind of pointless for Yu's personal physician to be involved at all.

I really like the idea of Darvish’s doctor being there for the physical.

“Elbow? Yeah I actually checked that this morning, looks real good, no reason to check again.”

gotta love the business model of noting you aren't journalists so you have no responsibility to report properly but you want to do journalist stuff so people should respect your word

Isn't that what Twitter has turned "sports journalism" into?

But idiots like this get attention and retweets and front offices feel obligated to address them. I dont see the Cubs FO issuing statements denying Back2Banks’ latest three way trade idea.

Twitter sucks for allowing nazis and abusive misogynists to run rampant, but it didn't invent [expletive] sports free agent rumors gaining traction.

What did the HIPAA-violating tweet say? It's gone now

He claimed that Darvish was signing with the Cubs because his source was the doctor who performed the team physical on him.

I mean, barstool is so reputable

I actually think this was correct though. WSD has been pretty reliable when it comes to White Sox rumors, can't vouch for Carl

I kinda 25% think this might be true and either his boss or the doctor told him to take that horsefeathers down hence the sudden and complete retraction

I tend to agree that something is going on. The swiftness and force of the denials was pretty telling.

And the retraction was so goofy after he was so adamant a few minutes before

I have a friend who knows Big Cat pretty well and asked him to text him to see what’s going on/what happened. I’ll see if I can get anything worth anything to post here. But agree that there might be something here and Carl jumped the gun or way over stepped on what his “source” gave him and was told to STFU by someone
