I'd put pretty good odds on that surprise being Contreras in LF.

and Bryant in RF?

If they haven't deviated from Bryant at 3B and Javy at 2B for Lester's starts yet I don't think they'll start now, but certainly not impossible.

Cogs at 2nd and No Baez is what I heard.

Anything is possible, but that would be super dumb.

I only caught a few minutes at the end amidst other distractions... But after Joe dropped, Spiegel & Goff said something like they saw lineups flash on the scoreboard like for a tech check. Had both Contreras and Zobrist, with Schwarber 9th at DH. Obviously not official and even they were taking with a grain of salt, but apparently guided some of their earlier questions that elicited the "Kyle will play" and "additional surprise" comments from Joe. FWIW.

I think the "why now" is Cleveland's speed (coupled with Lester's issues.) Some article mentioned a "triangle defense" with Ross, Riz, and Lester. Jay makes it a rhombus.

I could just as easily see the lineup stacked with lefties. Miggy in Left? I kid, I kid.

I choose to believe that Theo and Jed put that clip together themselves during some downtime after the trade deadline, because they knew this would happen. I'm sure they have something spectacular in the can for his first WS bomb.

are you abuck? If not, what happened to abuck? Also, as a corollary, did you kill him?

AFAIK, I am not responsible for the untimely death or disappearance of any other NSBB posters. I come in peace. Mostly.

So sounds like the lineup would be

Fowler, CF

Schwarber, DH (my fingers tingled as I typed this)

Bryant, 3B

Rizzo, 1B

Zobrist, RF

Baez, 2B

Contreras, LF

Ross, C

Russell, SS

Completely guessing on the order of the last 3. I thought maybe Maddon would bring back his "second leadoff hitter" in Russell from last year. The only thing that sucks is that its a lot of righties at the bottom of the order. Kluber doesn't have extreme L/R splits but obviously fares a little better against RHB.

I'd say my most confident guess is Willson in LF, Bryant in RF, Javy at 3B, Zobrist at 2B. 2nd guess would be Bryant/Zobrist in LF/RF, LaStella at 2B (GOD NO, NO GOD) Javy at 3B.

LaStella is not on the roster. And I think they will stick with Javy at 2nd considering how much the Indians like to run and Baez's elite game changing tagging ability.

Hard to see them moving Javy off of second at this point.

I can't imagine any Cubs pitcher being happy with Javy not at 2B. Much less someone like Lester.

Seeing a lineup like this takes me back to the opening day when Angel fans referred to it as a video game lineup. Back when Schwarber was healthy and we thought Heyward would be as good as he had in the past. Even if he is rusty, I love what his name does to the lineup.
