We've got this. Cubs in 5

That is exactly the result I want. Although again, I fear for Wrigley's structural integrity for that level of celebration.

Wouldn't it be amazing to win a WS only to lose Wrigley? We'd have to play at the Cell next year or two

I'm going to miss Game 3. First World Series game at Wrigley in 71 years...

Me too. Theatre tix. If it were a clinching or elimination game, I'd eat them without a second thought.

Here's a tweet with his ankle in it in case it goes away again. That looks nasty.

Best revenue that hole would see in years.

So sounds like the lineup would be

Fowler, CF

Schwarber, DH (my fingers tingled as I typed this)

Bryant, 3B

Rizzo, 1B

Zobrist, RF

Baez, 2B

Contreras, LF

Ross, C

Russell, SS

Completely guessing on the order of the last 3. I thought maybe Maddon would bring back his "second leadoff hitter" in Russell from last year. The only thing that sucks is that its a lot of righties at the bottom of the order. Kluber doesn't have extreme L/R splits but obviously fares a little better against RHB.

If Maddon keeps this simple and goes with the "no regrets" lineup, the lineup least likely to have you kicking yourself over with the WS on the line, that would be my lineup for tonight.

I think my lineup would be this, but switching Zo and Schwarber. Maybe Baez at 3rd.

I'm still thinking it makes more sense to start Heyward than Contreras, but I admit it's close enough that either decision is defensible.

LaStella is not on the roster.

yeah, but how do you know for sure he won't play?

TLS will surely be available in the series after game 4 when Lackey fakes an injury to be taken off the roster.

it will be a real injury where he somehow manages to bite off his own jaw

He just wants a Kirk Gibson moment. He won't get it, Schwarber will beat him to the punch.

Hey guys...

Is this a must win for the Indians? I mean...if they lose a Kluber game...they're in deep horsefeathers, right?

I'd be stunned if Heyward isn't playing RF tonight. Given that the Cubs are 4-41 lifetime against Kluber, Maddon is likely to put his best LH hitters in there with correlated splits. Bauer and Tomlin are inverse splits LH/RH so expect Contreras in LF when Montero catches Jake. In fact, I see it this way with what the Indians are doing:

Game 1: C, Ross - LF, Zobrist - RF, Heyward

Game 2: C, Montero - LF, Contreras - RF, Zobrist

Game 3: C, Contreras - LF, Zobrist - RF, Heyward

Soler cannot hit when it is under 50 degrees.

I don't know about a must win, but it is a huge game for them.

I don't even understand how you could both, at the same time, want to buy WS merchandise but be totally fine with missing the clinching game.

I'm the opposite. No way am I missing a clinching game, but I thought about buying WS gear but decided against it. Two reasons: (1) that WS stuff looks pretty lame once it's out of date; and (2) superstition. I bought a divisional series sweatshirt one year and a regular Cubs t-shirt another year when they were in the playoffs, and they blew up both times.

I'd say it's more of a can't lose than a must win

Pretty sure he meant after they win the title.

I'd never buy any merchandise before that. When I was younger, yeah.

Certainly a do-not-tie.

I'm waiting for a few weeks after to buy anything when they start discounting it to hell. There's some cool NLCS stuff I like but will wait until they put it at like 40-60% off.

How exactly did Kipnis hurt his ankle like that celebrating? Did he get like thrown down and turn it and feel awkwardly or was it like jumping over the dugout fencing? Edited by Cubswin11

I mean, I know the Red Sox and Blue Jays are not the Cubs, but the Indians are undefeated in the playoffs when Kluber does not start.

I'm going to buy my shirt the night it happens. And hat. And other shirts. And anything else I can waste money on.

Not sure if you are trying to debunk the claim that Soler can't hit when its under 50 degrees, but Game time temp for Game 2 in St. Louis was 70 degrees and for Game 3 against the Mets it was 72.
