A bit of insight into Ohtani.

Well this is an absolutely silly ass thing to say

Yet while it’s a bona fide shocker Ohtani didn’t even take a face-to-face meeting with the Yankees — why not at least use them for leverage with the other teams he really wanted? — my reporting made me less stunned that he’ll end up elsewhere.

The Cubs were totally gonna offer him a 300k signing bonus until they found out the Yankees weren’t involved. Now they are only going to offer him 300k

A bit of insight into Ohtani.

Funny that a NY Post writer talking about how a guy wasn't a fit for NY cited the oddity of him not even having a driver's license, when a very large portion of NY residents don't have a license either.

ayyyyy lmaooooooooooo

Isnt "the cubs way" the book that the FO put together themselves when they first got here to basically standardize the organizational philosophy? I thought this joke was gonna be about how dumb it would be to distribute that book to somebody who was likely to sign with a direct competitor.

No, the Cubs Way was an unwritten discipline that they developed that Verducci shared insight into in a book he called The Cubs Way.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's an "employee manual," for a lack of a better word for it, that Theo/FO authored.

The point stands that Verducci's book is incomplete information from a second-hand source

He can read Cubs Way. But keep him away from that tyrannical gloryhog David Ross’ book.

MR, is that really you?

Another thing I've been thinking about with him is that we seem to have a big advantage with his living situations. If he's really that big of a homebody and just doesn't like doing things but play baseball, playing for us allows him to literally live within 3-10 blocks of the stadium (so doesn't need to drive or be driven to navigate a huge city if he doesn't want to as he could pretty much be self-contained to just Wrigleyville) which I don't think any other team can offer. He'd have to deal with driving/being driven and a larger city in almost every other case since he would have to live further away. Hell with the new apartments/condos he could literally live across the street from the stadium if he wanted. If he just wants to eat, sleep and live baseball we offer him a great (probably best) option logistically/housing wise.
