Nope, travel has not been mentioned once in this 36 page thread about a major Japanese star

well, it has been, but in a far less relevant way (the two flights to and from japan, one of which - spring - is the same for all the teams he picked) than the one he's talking about.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned the travel time yet, but it comes up in this article. Seattle travels almost twice as many miles as the Cubs do in a given season. I'm sure Theo is aware of it.

That article is awesome, mainly because now I'm picturing Ohtani starting in left, coming in to throw gas in the 8th and staying in to bat/field in the 9th.

I understand. It was a bad joke.

i figured it might be, but i'm a robot so

Oh horsefeathers, self-aware AI.

i horsefeathering love this guy, he's so weird. that list reads like something derwood would have typed up for his Road to the show character

this is the second post i've ever given the <3 to on this board.

Derwood would have to add this:

Age 47: get a puppy

Age 55: house train puppy

this is the third.

did you see my post about the seal the other day

he sure is a stingy sumbitch

Welp, that alleviates that likely non-concern on my end lol

We clearly wooed him enough he told the Padres they gotta cram in their time to yesterday to get a token pitch when his mind was already made up.

This entire thread is something:

You aren't kidding.

"[san Diego] is entering a competitive window"

"They also have arguably the most savvy GM of the bunch."

Here's the list of returning Padres with 2+ wins: Clayton Richard, Jose Pirela. Their GM has been punished for lying about medical info and is digging out of a hole he dug himself with a series of terrible trades. Ohtani might pick them for the locale/market and opportunity to be 'the guy' and the past relationship, but that's still quite the reality distortion field they're putting up.

the only other team in their division that did not make the playoffs this year is ostensibly the favorite to acquire the NL MVP.

Considering that 2 weeks ago I had zero hope of the Cubs signing him, I won’t be too disappointed if he goes elsewhere. I’ll be ecstatic if they do sign him, but I still feel it is a relative long shot.
