Sign him for the rest of his life, then the game switches to the DH for the NL within a couple years and the Cubs are all, "bro, I don't know what happened, this is some bull horsefeathers!" while secretly high-fiving behind his back.

Thanks for the info and the video Tom. He's probably a long shot but who knows.

I wouldn't call it a long shot (as much as you could call a free agent signing not a long shot). If the hitting thing is serious, it's probably like us, the Dodgers, maybe Giants or Mets, and a random mystery team or two (like maybe the Cardinals decide to finally spend their TV money).

Out of those teams, the main one I'd be worried about losing to individually is LA.

Yeah the whole LA signs all the major international free agents thing is what I mean by a long shot. It seems like we usually miss out on the big international guys especially when it comes to the Japanese guys. Anything could happen though, we should have tv money coming maybe that will play into their willingness to pony up the money.

No one is going to let him play a position when he's not pitching if he's a starter. I could see a team get creative and use him as fireman (close and late) while using him as a position player.

Is he a good defensive player, what position?

So lets assume that some team actually lets him play the OF on his non pitching days.

How is it going to work for fantasy baseball purposes? You have to draft 2 different players? He gets SP and OF position eligibility?

His hang up is that he wants to play in the OF right? He wouldn't be happy being the DH?

Obviously aware it was my birthday:

This guy's the best young RHSP on the planet and half this thread is about how awesome a year he's having offensively.

let's pump the brakes there, chief.
