If i had to guess it's a number of things for each guy. Regression/aging/decline for some after a lot of innings the last ~2 years, slight calibration issues with some of the readings (tho we seem to be the only team with everyone down while others are up), or guys taking it "easy"/still getting into shape, Len said on 670 a bit ago everyone in the rotation threw the fewest ST innings of their careers this Spring.

Or, you know, pitchers suck and are going to break and all of them are going to horsefeathers at the same time.

I'm not so sure I share his exact conviction about Davis given the data at hand(b/c of the numbers themselves and their reliability), but I also have zero to complain about Davis so far and share the sentiment that the bullpen is in a pretty good place with Davis and Rondon not looking actively broken.

Flipping between games and the Brewers broadcasters said Craig Counsell thought the Brewers played a very good series, but the Cubs showed why they're the World Champs. Said the Cubs extended ABs by their ability to fight off good pitches that usually lead to outs instead of foul balls.

Just thought it was interesting as those games sure seemed frustrating from a Cubs standpoint.

Honestly I think the Brewers have a quality brain trust backing Counsell, who is going to be a really good Manager. I like a lot of the trades they made and I believe they'll be actual contenders in a couple years.

Then they'll have to accept they can't horsefeathers with us and have to blow it up again.

Completely agree. I actually think the Brewers will be our biggest competition going forward.

They are great. And Ross is actually really funny. He's been perfect as the hapless clod in these and the All-Star voting commercials last year.

I can't think of two teammates who are as genuinely great friends as Kris and Anthony seem to be. It carries over to everything they do. The stuff from photo day is hilarious.

I kind of doubt they're best friends off the field or anything. Just kind of that guy you really get along with at work or whatever.

Too different lifestyle wise. Rizzo is a big time partier and Bryant, jokes aside, not so much.

Good friends, sure (I mean, he stood up at his wedding), but I don't imagine them hanging out off field a ton aside from team functions. KB is a boring Mormon baseball robot.

The fax machine All-Star commercial was utter gold.

Justin Wilson's velocity is up a full mph to 96.4. He's getting ahead of hitters with a 63% F-strike, 3 points above his career high. His contact is down 7 points to 67, and in particular he has been nasty in the zone, lowering his Z-contact 10 points below his career average. It's too bad we weren't able to pry him from Detroit.

The 2016 Cubs set a lot of offensive franchise records last year, highest walk rate, highest fWAR, but the scoring of 808 runs was just 8th all time for the franchise in the World Series era.

This year's team is currently averaging 5.42 runs per game. At a whole season, that would project to 878 runs for the season, just 3rd all time.

To set the record, the Cubs would have to surpass 998 runs scored, set by the 1930 Cubs, which is the same year everybody scored a stupid amount of runs (Yankees and Cards each cleared 1000 and 6 teams cleared 900). In order to score 1000 runs for the season, the Cubs would have to average scoring just over 6.17 runs per game.

This is the expectation I have for the offense.
